JOHN 11:25
And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.
A Christmas nativity is one of the most recognizable symbols of the Christmas season. The word nativity is taken from the Latin nativus, which means "arisen by birth." Nativities are art, models, carvings, or live demonstrations depicting the night of Jesus' birth. Nativity scenes contain the same elements: the Christ child in a manger; His mother, Mary; His earthly father, Joseph; shepherds; angels; various barn animals; and sometimes three wise men. The birth of Jesus—Emmanuel, God with us—fulfills the message of God's presence and humility. The deeper purpose is to honor Christ and share the gospel. Ultimately, a nativity scene reminds us that Jesus came to be the perfect sacrifice for our sins, bringing hope, forgiveness, and eternal life.
