Encourage Your EAGLE!

We begin week 2 of our TCAP testing Schedule. Our third, fourth, and fifth grade students, teachers, and assistants have been working hard all year. . Students will test on English Language Arts, Math, and Science. Many kids get anxious on these types of test and we need your help.

1. Encourage YOUR EAGLE--we are sending home some notes you can fill out for your student in Monday folders--we will surprise your Eagle with a note from you!

2. Reassure your Eagle--just remind them to try his/her best and take the test seriously. They are PREPARED--don't let nerves get the best of them.

3. Put them to bed early!

4. Limit screen time in the evenings and make sure they get lots of rest!

5. Make sure they eat breakfast--either at home or at school.

6. Make sure kids are to school each day on time. If possible, if students can be at school at 7:45 (time to each breakfast and get settled) that would be great support!

Below is the TESTING SCHEDULE:

Monday, April 27th: Math Part 2 and Part 3

Tuesday, April 28th: Science

Wednesday, April 29th: Science, Part 2 (for 5th Grade Only)

Thursday, April 30th: Any make-up tests for students

NEW METHOD TO MAKE TRANSPORTATION CHANGES! NEW METHOD TO MAKE TRANSPORTATION CHANGES!

Submit Transportation Changes Online!

Daily, we have several transportation changes. In order to make this easier for you AND our main office, we are changing to an online system. There will be a "button" on our main website and you will fill out transportation changes there. (just like submitting an absences online) We ask that all transportation changes are made by 1:00 pm. The comprehensive list of transportation changes will go out to teachers by 1:30 to give them time to communicate to our little Eagles how they are to go home. Thank you for helping us make this process more seamless and a clearer method of communication between school and home.

Night of the ARTS!

BRAVO to all our EAGLES! We got to celebrate their artistic side this past Thursday. Our wonderful Eagle Choir kicked off the evening! Then, parents got to view the artwork of all our students. I am always impressed with their creativity, sweetness, and joy that is expressed in art!

Sign Up to Come Celebrate your EAGLE!

With so many guests that come for awards day, we have to start this process now and have a hard cutoff date. The link to sign up to come to awards day will be live the afternoon of March 23rd. For grades Pre-K-Grade 4, we are allowing 3 guests per student. Fifth grade students may have 4 guests attend the Awards ceremony. All guests must be pre-registered by Thursday, May 8th to allow us time to print guest badges.

Any “unclaimed tickets” will be released on May 12th. For example, if we are allotting 3 tickets for every student in a grade level that has 68 students (68 x 3 =204 expected guests) and we only have 180 people register—we will release the additional tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis to allow your family an additional guest. The “unclaimed” tickets will be released on a new link as we see how many tickets are still available by grade level.

NOTE: ALL REGISTERATIONS WILL CLOSE ON MAY 12TH. WE WILL NOT REGISTER ANYONE AFTER THAT DAY TO COME TO AWARDS CEREMONY.

MARCH TO MAY--ATTENDANCE FOCUS! MARCH TO MAY--ATTENDANCE FOCUS!

Thankfully, we are seeing a decline in flu, strep, and other illnesses — and we are so grateful for healthier days ahead!

As we head into the final three months of school, we are launching our March 2 May Attendance Campaign to help encourage strong attendance and finish the year well. Throughout the year, students have earned brag tags, awards, recognition, and shout-outs for monthly perfect attendance. This week, some students will even earn a special attendance t-shirt — we love celebrating their commitment!

In May, students with perfect or nearly perfect attendance for the entire year will receive a trophy or plaque at our awards ceremony. For students who may have missed school earlier in the year due to illness, our March 2 May campaign gives everyone a fresh opportunity to participate and be recognized.

Each school day, we will hold a random drawing at the end of the day. Any student who is present that day will have the chance to be called down to Mrs. Ricker’s Treasure Box for a special surprise!

Our overall goal is for students to end the year with as few absences as possible. When a student reaches 17 absences — even if they are excused — they are considered chronically absent for the year. Chronically absent students have to be tracked from year to year. We certainly understand that during the elementary years, children will sometimes be sick or have unexpected circumstances that keep them home. Our goal is simply to encourage and celebrate being at school whenever possible.

Every day of learning matters. Absences can add up quickly over time and can impact student growth. We are excited to partner with you to help our Eagles finish strong and SOAR through the end of the year!
