For the safety and accessibility of all our families, please remember that handicap parking spaces are reserved for vehicles displaying a valid handicap placard or license plate. Some of our families rely on these designated spots to safely unload their children each morning—thank you for helping us keep them available.

With the temperature getting colder, please help us out by making sure your child's name is written in their jackets. It is cold in the morning and then warms up and jackets tend to get left on the playground. Having names inside jackets help us return them to the right owner.

Also, it will be a great help if you have your child already dressed in their jacket when coming from morning arrival. Having to wait for students to put their jacket on in the drop off line causes the line to back up. Your help with this will help morning drop off to continue running smoothly.

What's Happening In Music What's Happening In Music

The second six weeks in Music have flown by so fast! For our instruments of the week we have learned about stringed, fretted instruments like the guitar. Kids had fun playing our new electric guitar that was generously donated by one of our retired teachers, Lisa Woods. Keyboard instruments were part of these lessons as well. The kids got to explore our piano as I “took it apart” so they could watch the movements inside of it.

Kindergarten and First grade learned about our different voices: whisper, talk, shout, and sing and got to play fun games and sing songs about them.

The kids have been utilizing what they have learned by applying it to playing instruments. All grades have been able to apply instrumentation of some type (pitched and non-pitched percussion) to our favorite Halloween song, “Pumpkin Bones.”

Military Holiday Card Challenge

This year, we're participating in the Military Holiday Card Challenge once again. The primary goal of the challenge is to spread holiday cheer and show our appreciation to military service members serving abroad. You can create a holiday card with your child while they are eating lunch. We have everything we need to create beautiful holiday cards on stage. Families can borrow the cafeteria's student tables if there are too many of them. Completed cards are placed in a basket at the supply station. The station is available from November 3rd to the 14th.

Habit 6: Synergize

Synergize means working together is better! This habit reminds us that everyone has unique strengths and ideas, and when we combine them, we can accomplish amazing things. Families can practice synergy by teaming up on chores, cooking together, or solving problems as a group. When we value each other’s differences and work as a team, we learn more, do more, and have more fun! Synergizing helps us celebrate what makes each person special while creating something even better together.

Nurse's Information Nurse's Information

Just a reminder: attendance is essential to your child’s success at school! Throughout the year, there may be health reasons to keep your child home from school. The following guidelines may be help determine when your child should stay home from school due to illness:

  • Fever of 100 degrees or higher in the past 24 hours

    • Your child must be free of fever for a full 24 hours without the help of fever-reducing medications (such as Tylenol or Motrin) before sending them back to school.

  • Vomiting and/or diarrhea in the past 24 hours

  • Itchy, red eyes with discharge

  • Rash that has fluid or pus coming from it until treatment has been received, and a note from the doctor states that your child may return to school.

  • Ringworm of the scalp (until treatment has started)

  • Head lice (may return after appropriate lice treatment) -Your school nurse will need to check your child’s head before he/she returns to class

  • Please encourage your child to wash his or her hands often, use hand sanitizer, and cover their noses and mouths when coughing or sneezing. It is also helpful for your children to get plenty of sleep and to eat healthy foods, especially breakfast.

Always remember that I am available to assist you if you have any questions on whether or not you should keep your student home. We share a common goal – the health, safety, and educational success of your child!
