Back to School Update

I am so excited to welcome you to a brand-new school year at KES! As your principal, it is truly an honor to join this incredible community of students, families, and staff.

The first days of school are always filled with energy, smiles, and a bit of nervous excitement and that’s what makes them so special. Our goal this year is to create a school environment where every child feels safe, supported, and inspired to learn and grow. Together, we will build on the strong traditions of KES while also embracing new opportunities for learning, connection, and fun.

I encourage you to stay connected by reading our newsletters, following school updates, and getting involved whenever you can. Partnerships with families are at the heart of student success, and I look forward to working side by side with you throughout the year.

We are excited to welcome families to our Open House on Wednesday, August 26 from 3:30–5:30 PM. This is a great opportunity for students to meet their teachers, drop off supplies, and get comfortable in their new classrooms. In addition, school activities and community organizations will have information tables set up in the cafeteria. We look forward to seeing you and starting the school year together!

We know students (and parents!) are excited to find out who their classroom teacher will be for the upcoming school year. Teacher assignment information will be available on Monday, August 24.

We appreciate your patience as we work to finalize class lists to ensure the best learning environment for all of our students. We look forward to an exciting school year ahead!

If you haven’t already done so, please be sure to complete your child’s registration for the upcoming school year. Registration ensures we have the most up-to-date information for your family and helps us prepare for a smooth start to the year. You can complete registration online through Skyward, or stop by the school office for assistance. Thank you for taking care of this important step before the first day of school!

If your child will be riding the bus this school year, please be sure you have completed the bus registration form. Early registration helps us plan routes and ensure a smooth start to the year.

As we begin a new school year, we want to remind families that regular attendance is one of the most important factors in student success. When students are present each day, they are able to fully engage in learning, build strong connections with their teachers and classmates, and develop positive routines that support achievement. Please help your child start the year strong by making school attendance a top priority. Together, we can ensure every student has the opportunity to learn and grow every day!

We encourage all students to be on time and present every day. Please review pages 3-5 of the student handbook for important information about attendance policies, including details on excused and unexcused absences. We understand that students may need to miss school for various reasons. If your student will be absent, please call the attendance line at (262) 626-3101 to notify us by 9:30 AM.

Families will continue to follow the same dismissal routines as last year, with car riders, bus riders, and walkers dismissed through their designated areas. Thank you for your cooperation and support as we work to ensure a smooth and safe dismissal process for all students.

Dismissal Changes
To help ensure a safe and smooth end to the school day, we ask that all dismissal changes be communicated to the office no later than 3:15 PM. This allows our staff enough time to notify teachers and students of the change before dismissal begins. Changes received after 3:15 may not be able to be accommodated. Thank you for your partnership in helping us keep dismissal safe and organized for all students.
