๐ฟ MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH ๐ฟ
May is Mental Health Awareness Monthโa time to recognize the importance of emotional well-being for everyone in our school community. This month, we encourage families to come together in support of two very special groups: mothers and teachers.
Mothers often carry a unique mental and emotional loadโcaring for not only their children but oftentimes members of their families, working full-time jobs, and fulfilling other obligations in their lives. Their strength, advocacy, and daily dedication deserve recognition and support. A kind word, a helping hand, or simply listening can go a long way in honoring their journey.
We also celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week in May! Our educators pour their hearts into nurturing and guiding our children. This week is a perfect time to lift our teachers with notes of gratitude, acts of kindness, and encouragement that boost their mental and emotional health. Don't forgetโour community teacher shower is this Wednesday. Let's turn awareness into action!
Together, letโs build a community that prioritizes mental health through compassion, awareness, and appreciation. A little kindness can make a lasting difference. ๐
๐ซ SCHOOLWIDE INITIATIVES AND EVENTS ๐ซ
๐ ATTENDANCE MATTERS - LET'S FINISH STRONG! ๐
We are proud to share that our school has made significant progress in reducing chronic absenteeism this year! Thanks to your partnership and commitment, more students are attending school regularly, and it's making a real difference.
Research shows that students who are not chronically absent achieve higher academic success, build stronger relationships, and are better prepared for the next grade level. Your efforts are paying off!
With only six weeks left in the school year, we encourage all families to stay the course. Please continue to bring your children to school every day and on time, as long as they are healthy. Every minute of instruction counts, and your consistency helps your child thrive.
We truly appreciate your dedication. The hard work youโre putting in now will have lasting positive effects on your childโs future. Letโs keep the momentum goingโtogether, we can finish the year strong! ๐ช๐
๐ MUST BE THE MONEY: JOIN US FOR OUR VIRTUAL BUDGET MEETING๐ฒ
We invite all families to attend our upcoming Virtual Budget Meeting for the 2026 school year on Monday, May 12th at 6:30 p.m. This critical session will give you insight into how we plan to allocate our School-based, Title I, and Community School funds to best support student success.
During the meeting, weโll share the results of last month's budget survey and explain how your input, along with current student data, directly informed our spending priorities and decisions. As a thank you for your engagement, students whose parents attend the whole meeting will earn a special dress-down day (date to be announced soon)!
Your voice matters, and your involvement helps us build a stronger, more supportive school community. We look forward to seeing you there!

Student Transfer Requests for 2025-2026 School Year
Prince Georgeโs County Public Schools (PGCPS) is now accepting student transfer requests for the 2025โ26 school year through Friday, May 16 at 11:59 p.m.
If your child is currently enrolled in a PGCPS school, you can submit a transfer request online through your ParentVUE account. If parents or guardians donโt have an active ParentVUE account, you can request account activation online.
We encourage families to review the current list of schools with available seats before submitting a request โ we cannot approve transfers to schools at or over their state-rated capacity. The list is updated weekly and once seats are filled, you will not be able to select a seat for that school. At this time, there are no 9th-grade seats available for transfer students.
