A Winter Break Wish for You

Oh band, what a journey! What months full of sound!
From warm-up to concert, your growth did astound!
Through measures and metronomes, rain, sleet, and snow,
You’ve grown in your musicianship, oh how you did grow!

You practiced and polished through mornings and nights,
Through tuning and timing and rhythmic delights.
With each scale that you conquered, each measure, each grin
You wrapped every neuron in musical myelin!

Through scales up and down, both in major and minor,
Your tone’s gotten deeper, your phrasing much finer.
Each note that you play, every phrase that you hone,
Now shimmers and sparkles with sweet overtones!

You subdivide smartly, helping to keep time,
You count through the measures, you are musicality sublime,

Your practice strategies, oh, how they have grown!
From guesswork and giggles to mastery shown.

Your December concert? Oh, what a delight!
A sparkle of sound and a spirit so bright!
The music was magic, the ensembleship was true
The joy in that hall came from each one of you!

When rhythms got tricky or patience got worn,
You showed what it means to be brave and reborn.
Through practice and patience, with both laughter and tear,
You’ve built something special this wonderful year.

So rest now, dear band, let the cymbals lie still,
Let silence bring peace, if only it will.
You’ve earned every minute of hot cocoa and cheer
I’m so proud of your work and your growth this school year!

May your break be relaxing, with extra sleep and naps long,
Dreaming of music where you all belong.
When January calls and the downbeat rings true
We’ll start the new year strong, Thanks to all of you!

Best wishes for a restful winter break. Looking forward to seeing you all in the new year!
