What's Happening in The Den
Dear Barnett Shoals Families,
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Virtual Title I/Curriculum Night last week! It was truly heartwarming to see the meaningful connections between our teachers and families—it’s those moments that make our school community so special.
We’re also proud to share some exciting news: Barnett Shoals has been named a Title I Reward School! This means we’re among the top 5% of Title I schools in Georgia showing significant progress in improving student performance in English Language Arts and Math. This recognition is a testament to the hard work of our scholars, teachers, and families—congratulations to all!
We are also proud of our Scholars of the Month and Legendary Leaders of the Month who were celebrated during our first EEAA Ceremony on Friday. Congratulations and keep up the good work.
Looking ahead, we’re excited for Scholar-Led Conferences next week. Our students are looking forward to sharing their learning journey with you—it’s a proud moment for them and for us!
With gratitude,
Principal Lumpkin
Den of the Month

Congratulations to our August Den of the Month, Chichagof!
It was a very close race, and we are so proud of all of our scholars, families, and staff members who contribute to our den community. 🐻 Four Dens - One Bear Family! 🐻
Family Movie Night
Please join us on the BSE Lawn for a Family Movie Night!
We will watch the movie Coco, so bring your own chairs, blankets, or outdoor seating of choice. You are welcome to bring your own food/snacks. We will provide popsicles!
Stroll or Roll to School Day!
.................................................................................................
⭐ Join us for our BSE Stroll or Roll to School Day to celebrate the 29th Annual National Walk & Roll to School Day on October 8, 2025!
🚲🛴👟 Ride your bike, skate, scooter, or walk to school. Complimentary coffee will be available for adults! ☕
🚗🚙 If you usually drive to school, we invite you to park nearby and stroll or roll the rest of the way! *You can park across the street at St. Gregory's or an alternate location if you live too far away.
🔊🔔🚘 We will still operate our car rider line - we modify it by having our car rider ambassadors open doors at the sidewalk so that the scholars are still able to participate and join in on the fun!
We will have additional people stationed along the way to help escort the scholars to the building.
Teacher and Support Professional of the Year
Huge congratulations to our 2025-26 Teacher of the Year and Support Professional of the Year for Barnett Shoals Elementary.
Our Teacher of the Year, Timothy Pritchett, and our Support Person of the Year, Brian Smith, will be eligible to be selected as CCSD’s District Teacher of the Year and Support Professional of the Year. The district Teacher of the Year will then compete at the state level.
We are so incredibly proud to celebrate you as our Teacher of the Year! Your passion, dedication, and genuine care for your scholars and colleagues make you such an invaluable part of our Barnett Shoals family. We are beyond grateful to have you on our team.
Congratulations to our incredible Support Person of the Year! Your unwavering dedication, quiet strength, and deep love for our scholars shine through in everything you do. You not only support our school—you empower our scholars, helping them find their voice and become advocates for themselves. We are so proud to have you represent Barnett Shoals and so grateful for the heart and care you bring to our team every day!

Habits at Home
Barnett Shoals is a Leader in Me school! Leader in Me is based off of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective people and it is already shifting the mindsets of staff & scholars and the culture of our school.
We are focusing on Habit #2: Begin With The End In Mind this month!
Fact Challenge #2 : Family Mission Statements
Our FACT Challenge #2 will launch this week!
We will be sending home instructions on how to participate in the challenge on Friday, October 3rd.
Family Mission Statements:
By establishing who you are as a family, how you want to be known, and how you plan to do it, you are practicing Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind.
⭐Remember, your family's mission statement can be short and simple (this makes it easy for all members to remember it)!
