Cougar ChronicleMay Weekly update ~ May 30, 2025

We are in the last stretch of the Race for 2024-2025!!!

June is just a few days away...

A note from Mr. Lee A note from Mr. Lee

Cellphones and Social Media

Instances of cellphone misuse (videotaping and picture taking) and posting inappropriate and hurtful things on social media are happening at an alarming rate. The students engaging in these activities are doing it outside of school and it is causing unnecessary drama and even fighting at school.

Cellphones are to be off and put away in their lockers at school. As the parent or guardian supplying your student with a cellphone, it is your responsibility to monitor their usage. It is impossible for the school to control what your student does on these devices. However, if something from the device leads to a disruption in the educational process at school, the student code of conduct will be enforced.

Please take some time to talk with your students about their cellphone use and check their devices regularly. Students are entering into group chats and messaging people they don’t know. Students are being threatened and bullied through social media and it needs to stop.

If you have any questions about these policies, please feel free to reach out to the main office.

Special Remarks from Mr. Syswerda Special Remarks from Mr. Syswerda

We have started giving away some prizes for our RISE rewards tickets. In addition to some lower level prizes in the cafeteria, we are giving away five $10 gift cards, three $30 gift cards and one $50 gift card before the end of the year. In case you haven't heard about RISE yet, it stands for Respectful, Individually accountable, Safe and Engaged. When students demonstrate these behaviors at school, their teachers may choose to reward them with a RISE ticket. We will continue this program next year. Good Luck!

Math Class

Mrs. Youngblood's 7th grade math students are studying probability. They flipped coins to see how many times they landed on heads or tails, tossed plastic cups to see if it would land upright, upside-down or on its side and created spinners using paperclips. They predicted, calculated and compared theoretical and experimental probabilities to extend their workbook lessons.
