4K in February 2025!

We made it to February after a chilly January. I'm ready for a bit warmer weather which usually brings more snow.

In 4K the kids are still full of energy so we're having lots of fun! The teachers have to be a bit creative when we have long stretches of cold weather to keep the kids entertained and burn some of that endless 4 year old energy! Visits to the gym, extra movement breaks, games and longer stretches of play help with the cold weather blues.

February will bring Registration for Kindergarten!

Please see the information below about how to register your child for 2025-2026 and continue to watch for information from your child's teacher for more transitional opportunities!

Head Start #2 - Lindsey

We are having a ball this new year learning about arctic animals, snow and all things COLD! Our friends here at school have explored new ideas in many ways, such as shaving cream for art, ice cubes in our sensory bin, real and pretend snow, songs, stories and MORE! We loved acting out The Mitten story and pretending to be penguins and polar bears. Our imagination is soaring with all the new creations we build with our blocks, magna tiles and legos! We can't wait to see what the rest of the new year brings!

Head Start #2 - Andrew

In 4K at Head Start, we have learned lots about winter time activities and letters. We have been talking about all things wintertime: how to stay warm, what activities to do outside, and our children’s favorite Hot Cocoa Breath. Now with snow covering the ground we have been using sleds and other winter tools to play outside. In the classroom we have been learning our new letters and our new favorite is the magic C. We are also growing emotionally as we continue to work on our feelings and how to express them.

Kindergarten Transition

Transition to Kindergarten

4K Families...

There are several steps to transition children from 4K to Kindergarten and we start in early... so please keep an eye on your email and read the newsletters the next couple of months for more information.

  • In January, your child's 4K teacher will be reaching out to verify your address and share what your child's home school will be for Kindergarten.

  • IF you've moved, you'll be asked to provide a document to verify your address. This is: a utility bill, a mortgage statement or rental agreement.

  • If you're interested in exploring an elementary transfer request; this form will be shared in February's newsletter and posted on the school district website.

  • In February - you will be asked to complete a google form to register your child for Kindergarten. The link for this will be included in the February newsletter next month.

  • I'll continue to share information this Spring as we make a plan for how to best support incoming Kindergarten students for the 2025-2026 school year.

UW-Extension Parenting the Preschooler Guides

We collaborate with UW-Extension in a variety of ways within our Early Childhood Department. One resource they offer and share each month is a series called Parenting the Preschooler. There is GREAT information in here for you as the parent of preschooler! Please take a moment and read through the information. I'll share age 4 & 5 each month within the 4K newsletter.
