Healthy Minute
Get Outside! Fresh Air! Vitamin D!
With the weather warming up, the sun shining and the days getting longer, now is the most important time to spend LOTS of time outdoors! Middle School aged students should aim for at least 60 minutes of play OUTSIDE every day, especially when the weather is so nice! Fresh air and vitamin D in the form of sunshine are very important for a healthy lifestyle, immune system, and mental health state. Spending more time outdoors helps regulate your sleep cycle as well. Did you know that spending just 30 minutes in nature every day can boost your mood and increase your happiness hormones? Schedule a playdate with a friend, walk your pet, go for a bike ride, build a fort in the woods, play at the park, anything to get yourself outdoors! It’s good for your health :)

Tips for Summer Mental Wellness
With only a few weeks left of school, the summer season is quickly approaching! Although summertime can be exciting for many reasons, the sudden change of routine can also come with challenges that may impact our overall well-being. For this reason, it is important to consider what we can do to maintain mental wellness during the summer months.
Here are a few ideas!
- Plan and stick with a routine
- Get outside!
- Engage in regular exercise/activity
- Eat healthy
- Sleep and rest
- Socialize/connect with others
- Limit screen time
It is important to find what is right for you and what will work best for your family. The little things we try can make a significant positive difference. Take the time to think about what activities and/or routines you can implement to help improve your well-being this summer!
