Valentine Boxes

In 4th grade, it is tradition to have a Valentine Box Contest! Each class will have 4 winners. Students may choose to decorate a box for one of the following categories: Most Creative, Sportiest, Most Lovey Dovey/Prettiest, and Funniest.

The kids from each class, as well as some other faculty and staff, will come down and vote on the boxes and the winner from each category will be announced at the end of the day!

This is an OPTIONAL activity.

Next Week's Focus

Math-This week we will be adding and subtracting mixed numbers with renaming and we will begin multiplication of a whole number and a fraction.

Science/Social Studies-Test date moved. Our test over energy will now be on Friday, February 9th. We were able to watch the MS play this morning, so we did not get to do today's lesson. We will do the study guide and go over it now on Wednesday. I have a sub half day on Tuesday and Thursday. I don't want a sub doing the study guide or test, so I've moved it back 2 days. I will read the test to all students and clarify anything I feel needs it. I spoke with students on Monday about the ideas that would be on test and it's been on the board since.

1. speed and energy relationship 2. collisions (energy transfer) 3. circuits, insulators, conductors

4. forms of energy 5. human uses of energy

ELA-In Reading, the students will continue with their story, Riding Freedom. The focused skills will be compare & contrast, personification, main idea & supporting details, and commas & quotations in dialogue.

Homework

This year, we will not have planners. Some students don't always get their assignments done in class and may need to take it home for homework. If this is the case for math or any other class, you will receive an email from the teacher the work is due in.

Google Classroom

Parents,

Some are requesting how to get on Google Classroom at home, whether for homework purposes, to help with studying, or just to check in. The easiest way for parents is to just use your child's account. Add their school account to your device using their email and password. Then you and/or students should have access-as long as you are logged onto their account. You do NOT need a code. If you are needing one, then you have not logged into the child's account. They have already entered the code and joined the classroom. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding Google Classroom.

Thanks

Absent Students

When your child is absent for any reason, all assignments for the day will be posted on google classroom. The student will need to go to each google classroom for each core subject (ELA, Math, Social Studies/Science) and complete the assignment for that day. They get one day to complete the assignment per day they are absent. For example, if they are absent on a Monday, their work is due on a Wednesday. If your child is absent and cannot access google classroom, please send us an email so we can get copies made for them. If you have questions about this process, just let us know.
