REMINDER THAT THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL IS NEXT WEDNESDAY AND IT IS A 1/2 DAY
Report cards available via Skyward Family Access after 4pm on Monday, June 15th
THANK YOU!
Thank you to the many chaperones, volunteers, CHS Staff, and children that have made our 7th Grade Field Trip, 8th Grade DC Trip, and Field Day such a great experience for our children.
It is a lot of work and I am deeply appreciative of the support of our school community, along with the AMAZING staff we have at CHS Middle School that spend so much time outside of their work hours and normal day to day responsibilities to make these opportunities available for our children.
A special shout out to Mr. Spickard, Mrs. Berry, and Mr. Bruce for organizing the before mentioned trips and activities!

- All family members are welcome to wait outside the main entrance to see the 8th graders leave CHS one last time. For safety and security purposes families are not permitted inside the building.
- We will have a "parent viewing area" right outside the main entrance. This is the location that 8th graders will be exiting the building.
- 6th and 7th grade students will be exiting out of the media center entrance to help the flow of students leaving the building.
- Once the 8th graders have emptied out of the building, parents may join them briefly in the "student dismissal area" as we load buses for dismissal.
- We will begin our dismissal/ clap out process around 11:30 a.m.
Walled Lake Northern High School Freshman Orientation (SWAT)
Hello, Class of 2030! The time has come to begin getting ready for the 2026-2027 school year, starting at your graduation! This evening is a time to register for SWAT. Attached is a copy of the SWAT permission slip. We have attached a PDF. We are looking forward to starting some memorable years with our incoming class. Class Council is an extremely important part of Northern, and we encourage all students interested to participate in Class and Student Council. This is where important decisions will be made. We have had a few questions and would like to clarify some information. Please see below for frequently asked questions:
- Is SWAT the same as Registration? NO. Registration is required of ALL students, 9-12. This is where students will have pictures taken, find lockers, pay school fees, buy Homecoming tickets, buy spirit wear, have textbooks distributed, etc. STUDENTS WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR SCHEDULE during registration. They will see what classes they have, but will not know which hours they are enrolled in each course. Please remember that all courses are offered multiple hours during the day. SWAT is geared towards preparing freshmen for their high school experiences at Northern. This will help to ease the fears of walking through the doors on their first day. This will include school protocols, finding their classrooms, academics, get-to-know-you activities, the Code of Conduct, meeting administration/liaison officer expectations while at Northern, assembly, football chants, and more. YES, AT SWAT, YOUR CHILD WILL RECEIVE THEIR SCHEDULE. This is the only opportunity to receive your schedule early. If your child does not attend SWAT, the schedules should be available in Skyward by August 22 so that they can download and visit the building. Schedules will not be available earlier.
- Is there a make-up day for SWAT (A.K.A. Freshman orientation)? NO. Students will be given the opportunities offered through SWAT only on August 20 from 9:00 am-12:30 pm.
- How do I pay for SWAT? The cost is $5, which includes lunch. You can pay using cash or a check. If your child pays via check, please make it payable to Walled Lake Schools. This can be done at registration or at SWAT.
- Is my child required to stay for the entire SWAT event? Yes, we would prefer all incoming freshmen to stay for the entire event. Not only will they miss important information, but as a Student Leadership-run event, we must know where all students are at all times. Please have your child stay for the entire time. Thank you!
Once again, Congratulations, Class of 2030! We look forward to meeting our future Knights. Welcome to Northern!

PREVIOUS INFORMATION
Dear CHS Middle School Families,
As we approach the final weeks of the school year, I want to thank you for your continued support throughout the year. While summer vacation is right around the corner, we are reminding students daily that school expectations, learning, and responsibilities remain in place.
We ask for your partnership at home in encouraging your child to finish the year strong; academically, behaviorally, and socially. Attendance, effort, respect for others, and positive decision making continue to matter each and every day. Summer vacation officially begins when students arrive home on the last day of school, and we appreciate your support in reinforcing that message.
Together, we can help ensure a positive, productive, and successful end to the school year for all students.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
Respectfully,
Nayal Maktari

Oakland County Enhancement Millage - Impact & Potential Uses
The Oakland County Enhancement Millage will be on the August 4, 2026 ballot. If approved, each public school district and eligible public school academies would receive approximately $781 per student annually. This proposal would cost about $150 per year for a $200,000 home ($100,000 taxable value).
Districts would use the funding for a variety of reasons. Here are some examples on how these general fund dollars would be spent:
· Staff recruitment and retention
· Stabilizing general fund budgets
· Maintaining or reducing class sizes, where possible
· Expanding professional development
· Enhancing student wellness supports
· Improving safety and security
· Maintaining and strengthening district programming
Visit the Enhancement Millage website for more information and a tax calculator.

CHS Middle School Dress Code Reminder
As we move into the warmer spring months, we’re starting to see an increase in dress code concerns. Below you’ll find the dress code expectations that have been shared in our weekly newsletters and morning announcements.
Dress Code Guidelines
- Tops: Shirts must have sleeves (no tank tops or spaghetti straps) and should completely cover the torso.
- Bottoms: Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be of appropriate length.
- Hats and hoods: Hats and hoods are not to be worn indoors unless for religious or medical purposes.
- Accessories: Please avoid bringing blankets, toys or other accessories that could interfere with learning or safety.
We appreciate your support in ensuring that your child follows these guidelines.
Thank you,
Nayal Maktari
DISTRICT CHROMEBOOK SUPPORT
Process for requesting service for district issued chromebooks if needed:
- If a student needs support, he/she should fill out a Student Chromebook Support Form linked on all of the Google Classrooms and on the school website under Students. Being logged on to the school google account is required to access the form.
- The information in the form will be sent to Mrs. Stasak, our Middle School Computer Resource Teacher. She will reply to the student at his/her school gmail account. She will offer suggestions to fix the issue or, if it needs service, she will tell the student to take the chromebook to the office and give it to Mrs. Wilseck in the main office.
- The chromebook in the case will be sent through inner office and the student will be allowed to use a loaner chromebook AT SCHOOL. It will be the student’s responsibility to pick it up each morning from the office and return it at the end of the day.
- When the chromebook has been repaired, it will be delivered back to the school for the student to pick up.
- If the family purchased insurance, the first repair is free and all additional repairs carry a deductible. Deductible invoices or repair invoices, for those that did not choose insurance, must be paid before the repaired chromebook is returned.
If a student with a personal chromebook has a network issue, the same form can be used. We are not able to fix physical problems with personal devices and loaner chromebooks will not be provided.
*Reply @LEAVE to the number you are receiving messages from if you'd like to leave the text group at anytime.
Medications are administered at school under the supervision of our office staff. This includes BOTH prescription medications AND over the counter (ibuprofen, pain relievers, etc.) medications. BOTH types of medication require a completed and signed WLCSD medication authorization form by BOTH the parent/ guardian AND the child’s doctor.
For safety and confidentiality reasons, we will not be accepting medications at Smart Start. If you would like to drop off medications and the required documentation prior to the start of the school year, please contact our office secretary, Mrs. Jen Schloegl , directly at 248-956-3512.
As you have questions about this process please contact our main office at 248.956.3500.
