St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER |WEEK 8 TERM 2 2026
As many of you may know, Father Giovanni will soon be travelling to Italy to spend time with family and to celebrate both his sisters 25th Wedding anniversary and a very special milestone - his 40th birthday.
While we wish him safe travels and a wonderful time of celebration with his loved ones, we also take this opportunity to thank him for his outstanding contribution to our school and parish community. Through his faith-filled leadership, genuine care for others and ever-present support of our students, families and staff, Father continues to enrich the lives of so many. We are deeply grateful for all that he does and wish him every blessing as he enjoys this special time with family and friends
With a number of interschool sporting competitions taking place this term and next, we look forward to seeing our students represent our school with pride, enthusiasm and good sportsmanship. These events also provide a wonderful opportunity for parents to support and encourage all participants. As spectators, we play an important role in shaping our children's attitudes towards sport. We ask all parents to model respect, positivity and perspective from the sidelines, remembering that while winning is always enjoyable, it is not our primary measure of success. Far more important are the qualities of effort, teamwork, resilience, humility and good sportsmanship. When our children see the adults around them celebrating these values, they learn lessons that will stay with them long after the final whistle has blown.
A wet weekend ahead - great news for our farmers, a little less exciting for those of us heading out to cheer on our kids at netball, football and other sporting commitments! I spent Thursday night coaching George’s footy team and ended up slipping over in a muddy puddle while ‘showing off’ trying to mark a ball… Never mind, it’s all part of the parenting adventure!
Take good care everyone and looking forward to seeing you in Week 9.
Geordie
A big welcome to Jude A in KGR who has joined our community this week. Please make Jude and his family feel welcome as they settle into Bernies.
Assembly Friday 19 June
The following students will be receiving Merit Awards at next week's Assembly, which starts at 8.50am in the undercover area. Family and friends are welcome to join us.
KG - Year 6 Reports
Semester 1 School Reports will be made available via SEQTA in the last week of Term 2, please ensure you are able to log onto your account. An invitation to set up a SEQTA account has been sent out to Kindy, Pre-Primary and new families, please follow the instructions to set up your account. If you have any problems, please contact the office.
Allergy Reminder
Our school is a Nut Aware & Allergy Aware environment. We have students with severe allergies, including nut and egg anaphylaxis.
To help us keep all children safe, we ask families to please be mindful when packing lunchboxes and avoid sending foods that contain nuts, nut products, or eggs. Please be especially mindful of hard boiled eggs, eggs in salads, curried eggs, meringues etc. We ask that you remind your children not to touch others after eating and that they wash their hands thoroughly.
We appreciate your support and understanding in helping us create a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
Medical Reminders
This is a friendly reminder to please ensure your child has an in-date asthma puffer at school at all times. 3 Year Old Kindy - Year 2 have their asthma puffers in the classroom, and we encourage the older children, in Years 3 - 6 to always have theirs with them or in their school bag.
Having current medication available is important to support your child’s health and wellbeing should it be required during the school day. If your child’s puffer has expired, please provide a replacement as soon as possible. Please also ensure it is clearly labelled with your child’s name.
Please note that due to the large number of students requiring antibiotics, staff are only able to administer antibiotics at school when they have been prescribed to be taken 4 times a day. If your child has been prescribed antibiotics 2 or 3 times a day, these doses should please be given at home before and after school.
All medication provided to the school must be in the original packaging with the pharmacy label attached and accompanied by the required medication forms.
Thank you for your understanding.
Our 3 Year Old Kindy's will also have a running race, more information to follow! 👟🏃
We do need parent helpers for Cross Country. If you are able to assist us on the day, please email the office!
This term we are fundraising for LifeLink, a Catholic charity in the Perth Archdiocese that supports people who are sick, lonely, struggling or in need of a safe place to stay. As part of our Catholic mission, we are encouraged by Archbishop Timothy Costelloe to support LifeLink and help make a difference in the lives of others within our community.
To support this important cause, we will hold a Champions for Charity Day on Thursday 2nd July. Students from Kindy to Year 6 are invited to wear their favourite sports team top or the top of a team they play for by making a donation to LifeLink. Students are to wear their normal school sports shorts or tracksuit pants with normal school shoes. They have the option to choose to wear socks in their favourite team colours or wear their white school socks. If you would like your child to participate in Champions for Charity Day, please place a donation in an envelope with your child’s name on it and send it to school before the event day. Participation is optional. Students not taking part are to wear their normal school uniform.

In the Catholic tradition, our parish and school are closely connected.
The parish, led by Father Giovanni, provides spiritual leadership and is responsible for ensuring we nurture students’ faith alongside academic learning. The school supports the parish by helping children grow in Catholic values, preparing them for sacraments, and encouraging family participation in parish life.
It’s essentially a partnership — the parish is the faith community, and the school is one of its key ministries. For more information about our Parish, please click here:
