Week 7 - Thursday 14th March 2024 Week 7 - Thursday 14th March 2024

Principal's Message Principal's Message

As we move into the fourth week of Lent, we continue to embark on a profound journey of self-discovery and spiritual renewal. Through prayer, fasting and acts of kindness, we deepen our connection with God and each other. This season invites us to reflect on our lives, seek forgiveness and embrace the transformative power of grace and redemption.

Parent-teacher interviews are currently underway, providing a vital opportunity for collaboration between educators and families. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated teachers for their unwavering commitment to our children's growth and development. This is a time for parents to demonstrate their support for the St Anthony's Way by actively engaging in their child's educational journey and being supportive of the school. By participating in these interviews, we show our dedication to fostering a strong partnership between home and school, ultimately enriching the learning experience for all.

Another way to show commitment to the St Anthony’s Way is for parents to foster positive relationships with the school and community. Last week, our P&F held the ‘Welcome Back to School Picnic’. By supporting these community-led events, you are modelling to your children the importance of education and how we should behave in a Catholic community. I thank the P&F for all their efforts in organising and for being so flexible in their arrangements.

At St Anthony's, extracurricular activities play a pivotal role in enriching school life. From the recent Year 4-6 swimming carnival to Year 6 surfing lessons and Year 3 PADUA assembly, these experiences foster holistic development beyond the classroom. They instil teamwork, resilience, and a sense of community spirit. I would like to thank the Year 3 teachers, Mrs Emma Coad and Miss Chelsea Leber for their hard work in organising their assembly. I would also like to thank Mrs Nicki Francis for her fantastic organisation for the school swimming carnival. As we look forward, the upcoming interschool swimming carnival and Harmony Day celebrations promise more opportunities for growth and cultural exchange.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Craig Dalglish as he enters a new phase in his life. After 12 years at St Anthony’s, Mr Dalglish will be retiring from his position as Junior Science Teacher at the end of Term 1. All the best for what the future brings Mr Dalglish! Congratulations to Mrs Angela Walker, who will be taking on the Science role across the school. We would also like to welcome Mrs Lisa Elvin, who will take up a position at the school in Term 2 across multiple grade levels.

God Bless

What a fantastic day we had at our annual Years 4 to 6 swimming carnival! The event was a testament to the hard work and dedication of our students, staff and supportive parents. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to making the day a resounding success. The exceptional behaviour and sportsmanship displayed by our students was truly commendable, reflecting our school’s PADUA values, that we strive to instil at our school.

A highlight of the carnival was the remarkable team spirit demonstrated by all faction houses. Special congratulations are in order for Mercy House, who exemplified unity and camaraderie and were deservedly awarded the Unity Shield. Additionally, we celebrate McAuley House for their stellar performance, emerging as the winning faction house of the carnival. Their efforts and enthusiasm were truly inspiring, and we are immensely proud of all our students for their achievements.

Lastly, congratulations to the following students who received medals for their efforts at the carnival.
