Hello East Ramapo Community,

As we settle into the rhythm of a new school year, I continue to be inspired by the enthusiasm of our students, the dedication of our staff and the support of our families. Together, we are shaping a school culture where respect, high expectations and opportunity for every child are at the center of all we do.

To keep you informed and connected, we are launching East Ramapo Recap, a periodic newsletter designed to highlight important updates, celebrate achievements and share stories from across our schools. This is one more way we are working to strengthen communication and build an even stronger partnership with our community.

There’s a first time for everything…Congratulations to all of our students from K through 12 on completing the first day of school. Whether this was your first first day, your last first day, or somewhere in between, we know there are many adventures ahead! Watch this quick video capturing some of the students' first day.

ERCSD administration acknowledges that transportation has had a challenging start to the school year due to the district’s transition to new software. We are working closely with school principals and parents to identify issues and we are engaging the support of an outside consultant with expertise in the software. In addition, we are increasing internal staff capacity to ensure accuracy. We have made steady progress and encourage families still in need of assistance to contact their child’s principal. If the matter is not resolved, families are invited to reach out to the transportation department at the number listed below.

The East Ramapo Central School District has established protocols for deciding whether to close or delay school or cancel programs due to inclement weather or other emergencies. Security personnel are stationed in every East Ramapo school, with School Resource Officers assigned to both high schools. In an emergency, school officials assess the situation and respond quickly, safely, and appropriately, with student and staff safety as the top priority. Families and staff are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the New York State Emergency Response terms, represented by the acronym S.H.E.L.L. East Ramapo began another exciting year together on Thursday, September 4. In our first week back, we embraced our theme, Step by Step – Paso a Paso. There you can also access the district’s online Staff Directory which provides staff contact information and can be easily be searched by individual name, department or school.
