A Letter from the Principal
I hope this letter finds you doing well. I want to talk about expectations for students who attend Endeavor. In every meeting that I have with a student and their parent upon entering our school, there are academic expectations that are discussed. We discuss potential graduation dates. However, this is predicated that the student does what is expected to attain this; attend school regularly and complete their classwork to the best of their ability.
This school year brought a record number of students on to our campus which forced us to stop enrollment and begin a waiting list of students who also want to attend Endeavor. Right now, there are about 30 students on this list. I discussed with the students today that I will review every students' attendance and discipline records and their academic progress for the past semester at Endeavor. I can't give you an exact number of credits that are expected for a student to obtain in each semester at Endeavor because students have enrolled at different times during the semester. What will be evaluated are each student's tendancies.
Some examples of what will be reviewed are students who are:
- habitually late or leaving early for an unexcused reason
- absent one to two days every week
- choosing to be off task instead of doing assigned work during class
Remember, Endeavor is an accelerated high school. A less rapid pace is more likely needed for students who earned less than 3.5 credits this semester. Students that were not successful and fell behind academically this past semester at Endeavor must return to Channelview High School. These students may re-apply to Endeavor for the next school year provided they have made significant progress at CHS.
Students who are required to return to CHS will be contacted during the week of January 1, 2024.
It is not my desire to remove any students. However, I have a responsibility to ensure that ALL students are on pace to graduate in the best learning environment.
If you have any questions concerning your child's academic progress, please contact their teachers.
Sincerely,
Mark Sims
Principal

Attendance Reminders
Please note that students who are not physically on campus are marked absent. Students who do not come to school and do work online are still considered absent. Students are held accountable to the campus attendance committee and run the risk of not receiving credit due to attendance. If the absence is excused, please send a note within 3 days upon your child's return.
Students who are 18 years or older may be withdrawn due to excessive absences. Students younger than 18 may be withdrawn after 10 unexcused absences.
Also, please remember that school begins promptly at 8:25. Being late to class will also interfere with a student earning credit.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Endeavor office.
ACT and SAT Info
What is the ACT/SAT test?
Both the SAT and the ACT are nationally administered, standardized tests that help schools evaluate your application and see how prepared you are for college courses. The SAT and ACT generally cover the same topics. Both ACT and SAT scores are used for college admissions decisions and awarding merit-based scholarships. Most colleges do not prefer one test over the other. Neither the SAT nor ACT is harder than the other. Different students tend to do better on one test than the other.
