Santiago Canyon College Basketball

Santiago Canyon protected its home floor in the second round of the Southern California 3C2A State Playoffs, grinding out a 90–87 win over Antelope Valley in a high level, physical battle. After earning the No. 6 seed and a first round bye, SCC showed poise and toughness when the game tightened late.

Jacob De Armas set the tone with 21 points on 9 of 16 shooting, attacking gaps and knocking down three triples. Dominic Bolton delivered one of his most efficient performances of the season, scoring 22 points on 5 of 6 from the field, 4 of 5 from three, and a perfect 8 of 8 from the line. Paris Lassiter impacted the game across the board with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists, flirting with a triple double while battling through heavy pressure.

SCC shot 50 percent from the field and 41 percent from three, moving the ball for 19 assists and showing composure against Antelope Valley’s defensive pressure and switching. The Hawks also won the rebounding battle 37–33 and came up with timely defensive stops in the final possessions to secure the win.

With the victory, Santiago Canyon improves to 21–8 overall and advances to the third round of the Southern California 3C2A State Playoffs. The Hawks will travel to Cerritos on Saturday, March 7, with a trip to the State Finals in Visalia, California on the line.
