LAWRENCE TOWNSHIP UPDATES
CLASS OF 2027
The U.S. Department of Education has officially opened the 2027–2028 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)! This is the earliest launch in FAFSA’s history.
As a reminder, Indiana’s state financial aid deadline is April 15, 2027.
Key update for the 2027-2028 FAFSA form:
- Real time processing allows students to view their confirmed Student Aid Index, Federal Pell Grant eligibility information, and any error code(s) immediately upon filing their FAFSA.
- Please note state financial aid, such as the Frank O’Bannon Grant or the 21st Century Scholars award, and institutional aid will still require additional time to be processed and awarded.
Fall FAFSA Webinar
- Join the Indiana Commission for Higher Education (CHE) for a 2027-2028 FAFSA Updates webinar on October 27th from 11:00am-12:00pm EST.
- Counselors and other school staff can RSVP at this registration link.
2027-2028 FAFSA Waiver
- The 2027-2028 FAFSA waiver is live on the CHE’s website.
- Waivers should not be uploaded to ScholarTrack until after the April 15, 2027 deadline.

POSTSECONDARY INSTITUTIONS
HBCU Corner
HBCUs are a source of accomplishment and great pride for the African American community as well as the entire nation. HBCUs offer all students, regardless of race an opportunity to develop their skills and talents. Most of these institutions were founded in the years after the American Civil War and are
concentrated in southern states. HBCUs generated 25 percent of all bachelor’s degrees in STEM fields for African Americans and HBCU students paid an average cost of attendance that was 26% lower than four-year non-profit colleges.
The LC HBCU Corner highlights HBCUs, opportunities, and scholarships to students considering attending an HBCU or just want to learn more.

SCHOLARSHIPS
The Lilly Scholars program at Purdue
The Lilly Scholars program at Purdue is more than a scholarship. Qualified students can receive up to eight semesters of tuition, get a guaranteed paid internship with Lilly, and gain mentoring and professional development directly connected to the pharmaceutical industry. If you're a student interested in engineering, science, data, pharmacy, or pharmaceutical manufacturing—and especially if you're looking for a way to make Purdue more affordable—this is an opportunity you should seriously consider.
We are also hosting a weekly virtual information session every Monday at 7:00 p.m. EST, through November 2
Latest Scholarships
Periodically, StudentScholarships.org provides scholarship opportunities that LC students may learn about and may choose to apply. For more details about each scholarship and the eligibility requirements, read the details in their newsletter carefully.
