Welcome back, Prado View families!

We hope you had a relaxing Spring Break and are ready to hit the ground running as we head into the final two months of the school year—we are finishing strong! This is a busy and exciting time as our students continue learning and working toward mastery of grade-level standards, and for our 3rd–6th graders, gearing up for state testing April 14th–29th.

It’s not all testing, though—we also have so many fun events ahead, including field trips and end-of-year class activities that make this time of year so special for our students.

We also want to give a huge shout-out to Mrs. Games and her team for an absolutely amazing production of Willy Wonka right before break! In partnership with CAT Theater, they created such a memorable experience for our students and families—what a way to head into Spring Break!

Our Prado PRIDE focus this month is Growth Mindset, and there’s no better time for it! We are encouraging our students to take on challenges, push through when things feel difficult, and keep growing every single day. Let’s make it a great month, Prado View!

Kid's Club vs. ELO-P Kid's Club vs. ELO-P

After School Program Information: Those of you whose child has been enrolled in the after school program this school year have recently received an email from The City of Corona Kid's Club letting you know that Kid's Club will not be at Prado View next school year.

WE WILL STILL HAVE AN AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM (ELO-P)!

CNUSD has partnered with Kid's Club for many years to staff the after-school program, however, they will no longer be at Prado View after this school year. Starting the 26-27 school year, the after-school program is just called ELO-P (Expanded Learning Opportunities Program) and will be staffed with CNUSD employees and ELO-P staff, rather than by city staff like Kid’s Club. The program will also be run very similar to this year. There is no fee, but as always, room is limited. If you want your child to participate in the ELO-P after school program for the 26-27 school year, you must register by today through the re-enrollment process on Parent Connect. If you register late, you will be placed on a waiting list. This is found under the HOUSEHOLD section.

Please do not hesitate to call the office if you have questions: 951-736-3474.

Attendance Attendance

Attendance Matters—Every Day Counts!

Right now, 13% of Prado View students are chronically absent—missing 18 or more days of school. That’s a lot of lost learning, and it adds up quickly.

Research shows that attendance habits start early—students who are chronically absent in elementary school are much more likely to struggle academically in middle school and are at greater risk of not graduating high school.

Every day matters. Tardies matter too. Being late means missing important instruction and starting the day behind.

With state testing beginning April 14 for grades 3–6, it’s more important than ever that students are at school, on time, every day.

This is exactly why we run our monthly attendance challenges—and in April, we are focusing on our 3rd–6th grade students to support strong attendance during testing.

Thank you for making attendance a priority—we truly can’t do this without you!

This month, we are focusing on Growth Mindset—the belief that we can improve with effort, practice, and a willingness to learn. A growth mindset means embracing challenges, learning from mistakes, and not giving up when something feels difficult.

At school, a growth mindset looks like trying new strategies, asking for help, and seeing mistakes as opportunities to grow. This is especially important as students approach state testing and district assessments—we want them to do their best, stay confident, and remember that effort and perseverance matter more than perfection.

You can support this at home by encouraging your child to keep trying, praising effort over results, and reminding them that learning takes time.

When we practice a growth mindset, we build confidence, resilience, and a love of learning that will support students both in and out of the classroom.

In addition, the motto that we say every day on the announcements is “Respect the Bubble and There Will Be No Trouble!” We expect all students to keep their hands and feet to themselves at all times.

After School Program After School Program

We have an amazing after school ELO-P program in partnership with Corona Kid's Club. The students get to participate in amazing enrichment activities that are engaging and fun!

If you have to pick up your child before the 6pm end time you may do so between 3:45-4:00pm and 4:45-5:00pm. This allows our students to participate fully and staff to get your student to you quickly.

Regular dismissal time is 5:45-6:00pm.

Thank you for your support!

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

ARRIVAL:

*Please pull ALL THE WAY down as far as you can each morning. It does not matter which gate your child enters...they are able to walk to their gate. This helps speed up the drop off line and get cars off of Ridgeline.

*Please do not cut the line. We know it is tempting to bypass a car that is stopped and letting out a child, but this practice has been very dangerous with people almost getting hit. The outside lane is only for those parking in the lot or leaving the lot.

*The small parking lot is only for our PALS (special ed) busses and students.

Please do not park there and let out your general ed student**

Please remember you are at a school. Watch your speeds, your language, and your horn. Safety is our number one priority!

DISMISSAL: We use both the front gates as well as the park gate.

*ALL Kinders and PM TK dismiss through the park gate. There will be NO dismissal at the front of the school due to Kindergarten getting out 15 mins before 1st-6th grade. Siblings of Kinders will also exit at the park gate. Kinders dismiss at 1:42pm (Wed-12:42pm)

*AM TK will dismiss at the Kinder gate.

*Walkers will go through the park gate (please stay off the slope)

*Students being picked up by cars will wait by grade level on the sidewalk in front of the office.

*Students attending Montessori will meet their leaders at the red benches in front of the office after school.

Kids' Club - Those students who go to Kids Club will meet in Room 218.

As always, please stay in your car for arrival and dismissal and pull all the way down so we can get all cars through in a timely manner. Thank you!

We thank you for your help with our arrival and dismissal procedures!

Rainy Day Dismissal Procedures Rainy Day Dismissal Procedures

User uploaded image
zoom_out_map

It is almost spring and sometimes that brings spring showers. Please read below for a reminder regarding dismissal procedures on days it rains.

Please take a moment to look over the Rainy Day Dismissal Map attached. Procedures are different for TK/Kinder (and their siblings) and for 1st–6th grade, so it’s very important that everyone follows the correct route.

Do NOT leave your car in either pickup location. Students will walk to your car once we radio for them.

Key Reminders:
🔴 TK/Kinder & Siblings – If any TK/Kinder students have a sibling, they will wait together in the cafeteria. Parents will follow the red route and pick up at the TK/Kinder location. Parents will stay in their car and we will radio for your child to come out of the MPR.

🔵 1st–6th Grade – Follow the blue route for regular pickup (they will be under the shelter at the front gate). We will radio for your child when you pull up in your car.

🟡 Staff will be out directing traffic – Please drive slowly and follow all directions.

➡️ All cars exit through the yellow exit lane. Staff will be there to help direct merging traffic.

Again, please do not leave your car. Wait in your car.

Parents, if you walk up to the main gate to pick your child up, please stand on either side rather than right in front. This blocks our students from getting out and to their car. It's much easier if everyone stays in their car and just drive up.

Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and help keeping our students safe and dry!

If you have questions, please call the front office.

Safety At School Safety At School

Raptor: All visitors are required to check in at the office and go through our Raptor system. Visitors all wear name tags or badges. Please also remember to bring your ID with you when checking out your children early from school or when coming on campus.

Parent Connect: In the event of a major emergency at school, admin, law enforcement, and district administration will work together to secure our campus and ensure student and staff safety. In addition, parent communication will be a top priority. Please check your Parent Connect account to ensure your contact information is accurate and up to date. The first priority is student safety followed closely by quick and accurate communication.

Drills: As you are aware, the safety and well-being of our students is always of primary importance to our school and district. Every month, we conduct fire drills and several times throughout the year we conduct lockdown and earthquake drills. Our objective is for students and staff to practice what to do in the case of an emergency as well as for us to evaluate our procedures and school environment. We also walk our campus daily to ensure gates are closed/locked and there are no unrecognized people here.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Physical and Emotional Safety at School: Every month teachers show the "Words Matter" video (TK-6th) as well as the "Threats, Real of Fake" video (5th/6th) in their classrooms.

The purpose of this Words Matter Video is to discuss the power of students’ words with the goal of teaching students that phrases such as “I’m gonna kill you,” and words like “stab, shoot, and blow up” are not suitable to say at school. Instead, this video encourages kindness and to use words to build others up instead of tearing them down.

Please know, anytime we are made aware of a threat (joking or not) we will investigate. Depending on the situation, our District and law enforcement partners may also fully investigate to ensure school safety. Unfortunately, there continues to be a large strain on District and law enforcement resources investigating many fake threats, jokes, etc. which have been deemed not credible.

If you would like to view these videos, you can find the links below:

  • Words Matter Video Link. (TK-6th) Click HERE
  • Threats, Real or Fake Video (5th/6th only). Click HERE

As always, we appreciate your partnership in reinforcing with our students the importance of being mindful of their words, hand gestures, social media posts, and jokes.

**We also know that many kids think they are joking around with each other and may use insensitive names that make fun of another person's culture or race. This is VERY inappropriate and unacceptable. We have no tolerance for this type of behavior so please speak with your child about not making these types of comments.

If you have any questions regarding these videos, please feel free to contact us with any questions.

Cell Phones

CNUSD has a new cell phone policy to help maximize student learning through the elimination of distractions during instructional time. This is very similar to what Prado View already had in place. **This policy is also for Smart Watches and other electronics.

*Cell phones must be off or silenced and away all day

*Cell phones must be placed in the student's backpack, pocket, or other storage system.

Please check out the video HERE.

You can read the Board Policy and Administrative Regulation HERE.

If you have any questions, you are welcome to call Ms. Morgan or Ms. Ford.

Chromebooks

Every child, TK-12th grade, is given a Chromebook upon entry to a CNUSD school. The expectation is that your child keep it year after year. Please help your child label their Chromebook as they all look similar. This year, the District has provided cases to all students to help keep it protected.

It is also the responsibility of families to pay for any damages or lost Chromebooks. If Chromebook fees are not paid, your child will not get a diploma when they graduate high school due to outstanding fines. This is also the same for unpaid library fines. If you have questions about a Chromebook bill you received, please contact the office.

Please click HERE for Student-Parent Self Help, FAQ's, and Guidelines.

Phone/Tablet Safety

As students become more digitally proficient, we as adults need to work hard at staying up to speed on what kids are doing online. Here are some helpful tips when managing your child's access to technology at home...

*Keep screens and devices where you can see them

*Friend your child on Snapchat, Instagram, etc. so you can see what he/she posts

*Know who their online friends are

*Teach your child to keep their location private

*Don't let them go to bed with their phones or tablets

*View your child's text chats

*Set a specific amount of screen time your child can have each day

*Encourage your child to have open communication with you about what they see/hear

*Consider getting a parent control app like Bark, Qustodio, Net Nanny, Kidslox or Life 360.

With more access to technology comes more headaches. Hopefully this list of ideas we put together helps manage technology issues at home.

Dropping Off Food/Drinks

We certainly understand that life gets hectic and it can be hard to get the kiddos out the door in the morning. Sometimes, you may not have time to pack a snack, lunch, drink and need to bring it later. You are welcome to drop it off in the office, but please remember these few rules...

*Please make sure your student knows you are bringing them a snack/lunch, etc. so they know to look for it.

*Instruction will not be interrupted for students to come get their snack/lunch/water bottle, etc. from the office.

*Noon Supervisors will bring the food/drink out to snack/lunch and put it on the designated table for students to pick up when it is their time to eat.

*Please do not bring your child soda. Soda has sugar, and can disrupt the learning for the remainder of the day after snack/lunch.

Birthday Treats Birthday Treats

Parties/Birthday Treats

At the beginning of the year, our Welcome to School letter asked families to not bring cupcakes, donuts, cake, etc. for birthday treats. We instead asked families who wanted to bring something to focus on healthier items or goodie bags. This is more inclusive to those students who may not be able to participate due to allergies or dietary restrictions. Please save the fun treats for home birthday parties, etc.

No food being brought in to school may be homemade.

Please make sure your child's teacher knows when and what you are bringing.
