November is National American Indian Heritage Month

November is Native American Heritage Month! It’s a time to celebrate the rich histories, diverse cultures and important contributions of our nation’s first people.

www.nativeamericanheritagemonth.gov is a web portal created as a collaborative project of the Library of Congress and the National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

The Teacher's Guide from the National Endowment for the Humanities will introduce you to the cultures and explore the histories of some groups within the over 5 million people who identify as American Indian in the United States.

Discovery Education also provides a plethora of videos, texts, images, and an entire channel dedicated to celebrating Native American heritage.
