MTSS LeadsWeekly UpdateWeek of July 28, 2025

🌟 Welcome back for the 2025-26 school year where we will all have a hand in

growing greatness in MSCS! 🌟

This publication will be sent to MTSS Leads via email on Mondays each week unless there is a break. Thank you for taking time to read it thoroughly as it will provide key information about Response to Instruction and Intervention expectations along with data updates that will show our areas of strength and opportunity. I look forward to a successful school year working collaboratively with you.

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support Multi-Tiered Systems of Support

MSCS RTI2A and RTIB team members met to collaboratively develop this graphic which represents the Academic and Behavior supports that are offered to students as we seek to support students wholistically. During DLD I will explain in greater detail, but I wanted to share the graphic which represents the progression of supports moving from supports for parents, staff, and teachers to the most intensive intervention for students. This year you will hear much more from both RTI2A and RTIB as we must properly use intervention to support our students' needs, whether academic or behavior. Stay tuned for information throughout the school year!

The Story of the Sunflower and Similarities to MTSS The Story of the Sunflower and Similarities to MTSS

Sunflowers, with their radiant faces and tall, proud stalks, are often seen as symbols of joy, optimism, and unwavering faith. But sometimes, even these sturdy plants face adversities that threaten to break them. In MTSS we often start strong and have moments of joy as we are optimistic that our instruction and intervention will close our students' learning gaps. Sometimes though we don't see the progress we hoped because of other factors that threaten to break our growth. But the sunflower is strong just as our systems for MTSS are and they bend as they continue to look upward.

This year we must remember the strength that we have when we begin the year strong by putting all of our best systems in place to move students towards achievement through growth. I encourage you to use the Opening Checklist and our On Target for Success SharePoint to get started as we plant our sunflower seeds, remembering to bend, but not break as we grow together.

New Lead DLD Prework

Please allow about 60 minutes to complete the prework for DLD (credit will be awarded in PLZ for this), this will allow you to better formulate questions that you can ask Trisha McCarter as she provides a high level overview on best practices and allows you to ask questions in a small group setting.
