5th Grade Student Wellness Program
In order to support the mental health of our students, we are offering a free, optional mental wellness screening for 5th graders on April 15-18, administered by Brian Kuhn, the director of the Student Wellness Program (SWP) through Mental Health America of Eastern Missouri.
The SWP is a mental wellness screener that helps to identify students who may need additional mental health support & connect families with community mental health resources. Parkway has utilized this program for a few years now, and it has been a wonderful tool for supporting our students' social/emotional needs.
Please read the attached letter for more information about how to register your child for this program.

Nurse's Notes
Fifth Grade Families:
If your child has received updated immunizations in the last year or so, please send in an updated immunization record from the health care provider.
A Tdap and meningococcal vaccination is required before starting 8th grade, but these are often given after turning 10. If this is the case, we need to enter them in the electronic data base to make sure the system knows that they are up to date with their immunizations.
Below is more information about immunization requirements for the state of Missouri.
Please contact me with any questions.

Missouri Immunization Requirement
The 24-25 school year is just around the corner. Here is some guidance on Missouri school immunization requirements. For all the specifics please visit Missouri DHSS.
All students must present documentation of up-to-date immunization status, including month, day, and year of each immunization before attending school.
Students in all grade levels may receive immunizations up to four days before the due date.
Required immunizations should be administered according to the current Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices Schedule, including all spacing.
To remain in school, students "in progress" must have an Immunization In Progress form on file. In progress means that a child has begun the vaccine series and has an appointment for the next dose. This appointment must be kept and an updated record provided to the school. If the appointment is not kept, the child is no longer in progress and is noncompliant.
Religious and Medical exemptions are allowed. The appropriate exemption card must be on file. Unimmunized children are subject to exclusion from school when outbreaks of vaccine preventable diseases occur.
McKelvey PTO Needs YOU!
As a parent/guardian of a McKelvey Dragon, you are automatically a member. Please get involved as much as you are able. There are many ways, big and small, to connect and contribute to our school community. PTO's general meetings are led by our PTO Board, a small group of elected parents and teacher representatives. All are invited, and meetings are a great place to share your voice and hear the voices of others. We'll see you there!
This year's meetings will be held on the following dates at alternating locations:
- January 23 - 6:30 PM in the Intermediate Library
- March 26 - 6:30 PM in the Primary Library
If have any questions, please contact McKelvey PTO at mckelveypto@gmail.com.
