HTMS Kindness Booth
This week, Mrs. Stone’s class is spreading smiles all around HTMS with their Kindness Booth! Students can stop by for free high fives and hugs.
We love seeing our Huskies choose kindness and brighten each other’s day. Way to go, Mrs. Stone’s class. Thanks for making HTMS a happier place!
Chick-fil-A Book Giveaway at Magnolia Elementary
Magnolia Elementary School recently partnered with the Hewitt-Trussville High School Leadership Team to host a special Chick-fil-A Book Giveaway. This collaborative effort brought together students from both schools in a shared mission of promoting literacy and fostering a love for reading. The event not only supported early literacy development but also provided a meaningful opportunity for high school students to serve as role models, strengthening the bond between schools and reinforcing the importance of giving back to the community.

Cahaba’s “No Tech Thursdays” are all about giving students meaningful, tech-free learning experiences—and our new VersaTiles kits are the perfect fit. VersaTiles are a hands-on practice system that turns math review into an interactive puzzle. Students use numbered tiles to answer questions from an activity book, then place the tiles into a special case. If their completed pattern matches the key, they know they’ve mastered the concept; if not, they get instant feedback and a chance to try again.
Fourth grade students were the first to dive in, using VersaTiles to review major math concepts like multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, geometry, and measurement. The activities don’t introduce new material but give students an engaging way to practice and strengthen their skills.
The success in 4th grade has inspired us to expand the program—two complete kits for every grade level are now on the way. We’re excited to see how students across all grades will use this hands-on tool to build confidence, reinforce key concepts, and grow as mathematical thinkers and problem solvers—all without a single screen in sight.

Did you know that October is National Bullying Prevention Month?
Bullying is an aggressive behavior. It occurs when a child is targeted by one or more youth with repeated negative actions over a period of time. These are intentional attempts to cause discomfort or injury and can include name-calling, obscene gesturing, malicious teasing, exclusions, threat, rumors, physical hitting, kicking, pushing and choking. Cyberbullying is also a real and growing problem today. Make no mistake: Bullying of any kind is a form of violence that should not be tolerated.
For any questions concerning student bullying, please contact your school administrators or your student's school counselor, or Mrs. Beth Cardwell, TCS Student Support Specialist at (205) 228-3036.
