UMIS Halloween Information 2024
UMIS Halloween Information
On Thursday, October 31, 2024, we will celebrate Halloween at the Upper Moreland Intermediate School. We strive to make this afternoon a fun event for children and trust that your children will enjoy the Halloween Parade. Halloween room parents will be coordinating classroom activities and treats for the classroom activities. Please DO NOT send any donations of cupcakes, juice, or treats to school on that day.
Students who wish to participate in our Halloween parade should bring their costume to school in a bag labeled with their name and homeroom.
- Costumes should reflect good taste appropriate for the school setting and should NOT include weapons.
- Children will not be permitted to carry weapons of any kind during our Halloween Parade. No toy weapons, such as swords, guns, etc. will be permitted.
- Costumes must reflect a code of decency. Please remind your child to keep his/her costume and all accessories together and to bring it home at the end of the day.
Parade Schedule
Please note the following schedule for that day:
- The Halloween Parade will commence. Parents and spectators are cordially invited to view our annual Halloween Parade. Visitors are required to assemble within the assigned area located on the grass plot adjacent to the parking lot to the right of the main school entrance. Due to limited parking, it is recommended that parents and relatives carpool. Please do not park in any spot designated as a No Parking Zone. The parade will end at approximately 2:00 PM.
- PLEASE NOTE THAT THE OUTSIDE PARADE WILL BE CANCELED IF THERE IS INCLEMENT WEATHER. THERE IS NO RAIN DATE! NO PETS ALLOWED AT THE PARADE.
- Classroom activities will begin. For the safety and security of our students, please note that only room parents assigned to the Halloween Classroom Activities will be permitted to enter the building.
- Classroom activities will follow the parade. Room parents assigned to this activity should sign in at the main office. To avoid confusion at the end of the day all children must go home on their assigned bus. No alternate arrangements may be made by room parents for that day.

Alternative educational activities will be afforded to any student not celebrating this particular holiday. Please note that this is a regularly scheduled school day, and no student will be excused from school attendance. Contact your child’s teacher, in writing, so that we can arrange participation in the alternative educational opportunity for your child.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in our efforts to provide a quality school experience for your child.
Halloween Parade Route
Message to Spectators
Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers,
We are looking forward to our upcoming Halloween Parade on Thursday, October 31. In order to ensure that our students, staff, and spectators can safely enjoy this event, we need your participation. For those driving in, we respectfully ask that you adhere to the parking signs to ensure we maintain adequate space for throughway traffic. Parking is extremely limited and failing to abide by the no parking signs limits the ability for police or emergency medical personnel to get to us in the event we need them.
Furthermore, while we look forward to seeing everyone’s costumes, we ask that adult spectators avoid Halloween masks that cover their entire head, eyes, and face while on the school grounds. The school goes to great lengths to ensure your students can enjoy these school functions safely and we appreciate your support in this matter.
Thank you,
Upper Moreland School District Administration
