PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Friday, February 6th
It was our 100th day of school today and our Kindergartners treated us to a delightful parade through the halls! It was so fun to see the imaginative capes they were wearing!
We were lucky enough to get outside every day this week! It was wonderful for everyone to be able to get fresh air and run around with their friends outside. Thank you for continuing to send students in with their snow gear so they can be comfortable outside at recess.
This week we learned about being a good digital citizen! Different themed days focused on different aspects of digital citizenship and students learned about things like cyber bullying, being safe online, maintaining a critical eye and taking regular breaks from technology! Thank you to our Tech Facilitator, Mrs. Roura, for creating such thoughtful and informative lessons for our Panthers!
I heard that the PTA Sponsored Trivia Night last week was a huge success and very fun for everyone that attended!
I hope to see many of you at the PTA sponsored Family Bingo Night this evening!
Thanks
Ellie Chin
5 ESSENTIALS SURVEY (NEW POST!)
The statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey is now open through March 13. This survey is an opportunity for parents/guardians, teachers/staff, and 4th through 12th grade students to share thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness, specifically about your/their school.
Parent Participation Need 20% Parent Participation!
To participate in this survey as a parent/guardian, click the following link or scan the QR code (above) in this email:
Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
Student Participation (Grades 4-8 ONLY):
All District 25 students, grades 4 through 8, will be prompted to take this survey during school hours. Should you wish your child not participate, please fill out the following opt-out form:
Should you wish to review the student questions visit the Illinois 5Essentials Support Center and search "Student Questions" or click here and download the Student Survey Questions file.
For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, their Support Center's search function is extremely helpful. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact UChicago Impact Client Services at 1-866-440-1874 or impact-surveys@uchicago.edu.
FOOD DRIVE - THANK YOU! (NEW POST!)
THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who donated to our student council Food Drive! We were blown away by the amount of food that was collected and the Wheeling Township Food Pantry was so grateful to receive the donations!
Thank you so much to Mrs Koenig, Mrs Vincent, Mrs Dowdy, Mr Morkert and Mrs Boyle who volunteered their time to drive the items to the food pantry after school on Friday.
Your donations make an impact to the wider community and we are so thankful to our Student Council for organizing such a successful fundraiser!

SCHOOL CALENDAR SYNCING (2nd POST!)
Due to our recent website platform change, the process for syncing school and district calendars with your personal calendar is now different. The previous calendar sync from our former website will no longer show the most up-to-date information.
To continue receiving accurate event updates, please disconnect or delete the old calendar link and add the new one…it takes just a minute! A short how-to video is linked below to walk you through the steps.
VALENTINE'S PARTIES (2nd POST!)
Our Valentine's Parties will take place on Friday, February 13th in the afternoon. Your room parents and teachers should have reached out with more information.
This is always a fun afternoon and we enjoy all the games and activities planned by our creative room moms. If students are planning on handing out Valentines, please remember that we have a strict NO FOOD policy for the safety and wellness of all our Panthers. Please refrain from sending in Valentine cards with any candy, gum, etc. attached to them.
MULTICULTURAL NIGHT (2nd POST!)
Our wonderful Multicultural Night is returning this year on Wednesday, March 18th. Every year this event gets bigger and better and we are so excited to explore all the different cultures that make up Patton again this year! Last year we had many delicious dishes, fabulous performances and lots of informative presentations. If you would like to showcase your culture this year, please fill out THIS FORM.
Please mark your calendars for this event and be sure to come hungry and ready to try some new foods!
FEBRUARY PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE SIGNUP (FINAL POST!)
February conferences will take place on Monday, February 16th. These conferences will take place over one day and will be in 10-minute increments.
These conferences are always a great way for you to connect with your child(ren)'s teacher, spend some time in the classroom and hear about your child's school life! We appreciate the ongoing partnership and collaboration that is shared in the Patton community. Please note that there is only one conference time slot for each student.
Thank you to those of you who have already signed up for a slot! The signup link was emailed out to families on Sunday, January 18th but we realize there was quite an important football game on that evening so, for those of you who may have missed it, you can find the signup link HERE.
The signup will close at 12:00 pm on Monday, February 9th.
Fourth and Fifth Grade Parents: The conference times are for meeting with your child's homeroom teacher. If your child has a different teacher for math and you have specific math questions, please email him or her directly.
