Welcome to the 2026-27 school year! We are so excited and grateful to welcome our students back to campus on Monday morning and look forward to the excitement next week will bring.
Our staff has been working hard this week to prepare for the arrival of our wonderful students. Whether new or returning, this is the beginning of a new school year, new friends, new connections, and new possibilities. As I enter my 11th year as superintendent I realize how special and fleeting these experiences are and I look forward to connecting (and reconnecting) with our students and their families.
With all of that excitement in mind, please take extra precautions and extra time during drop-off on Monday. As a reminder, elementary school begins at 8:10, middle school at 8:20, and high school at 8:30. The roads around schools will be busy and crossing guards and CPD will be helping to manage the traffic. Please be patient!
Details about school arrival and departure procedures (as well as all important site-specific back to school information) can be found in your principal’s newsletters.
We are also aware of the heat and humidity and we are monitoring temperatures to align with our Heat Day Guidelines. Each of our school sites has designated Cool Zones, and as of this summer, all schools have multi-purpose rooms that are now fully air conditioned.
It’s going to be a great year, CUSD!!
Respectfully,
Karl J. Mueller
Superintendent
