Classroom guidance lessons are not merely a requirement; they serve as a gateway to imparting invaluable skills to our students, enriching both their academic and personal endeavors. This initiative stands as a Tier 1 support, benefiting all students. Much like the curriculum lessons you teach each year, our district has crafted a guidance curriculum tailored to the developmental level stages of our students. For instance, a lesson on communication skills for our 9th graders differs from that of their 10th-grade students. Effectively providing this service is challenging because we only have a single class period to make an impact. To provide additional support, we provide weekly pop-ups. Remarkably, through these lessons, many students have found the courage to come to our counseling office, seeking additional emotional support.
