October 29, 2023 - Community Newsletter
Dear Monomoy Middle School Families,
Thanks to all the students, staff, and high school volunteers who came out for our Costume Social on Friday night! It was awesome to see such an amazing turnout and so many creative costumes. While this type of event is not directly related to academics, it is related to our motto for the year, "Be here. Be you. Belong." As you know, at the middle school we work to provide students with a wide variety of experiences including social events such as this. Students should be commended as they continue to prove that they understand the power of community as evidenced by their respect for each other and the building during the event. We are so lucky to have such an amazing student body!
In partnership,
Abby Dudley
Principal
ANNOUNCEMENTS
School Council: We will have our first school council of the year on Monday, October 30th from 4-5 pm in the MRMS library. This is a group of parents, guardians, school staff, and school administration that looks at the needs and direction of the school, and offers input for school improvement. Please RSVP to Mrs. Dudley if you are planning to attend on the 30th.
Clubs Ending: Please be aware that our fall club session will end on 11/17. We will continue to have the library open for before and after school academic help each day with the exception of Friday afternoons.
Quarter 1 Ending: It is hard to believe, but we are nearly a quarter through the year. Quarter 1 will close on 11/7. Please support your students by checking Aspen to ensure that there are no assignments that they are missing before the end of the quarter.
ISO Legos: Our STEM students are in need of Legos as they work through the Engineering Design Process. If you have any unglued Legos that you are sick of tripping over at home, consider dropping them in the MRMS front office in the name of STEM education.
Veterans Day: Please note that there is no school on November 10th for Veterans Day. While this will be a short week, we will make it count with a spirit week. On Wednesday 11/8 we are having out first MRMS Pep Rally, and each day of the week will be a different dress up theme. Remind students to check out the posters around the school and listen to the announcements so they don't miss an opportunity to show their school spirit.

OLD NEWS AND REMINDERS
Bike and Scooter Riders: If your child rides a bike or scooter to school, please review the following expectations with them as we want to ensure that all children are arriving and departing from school safely. All bikes and scooters need to be placed on a bike rack. These are located outside the 5th grade entrance and outside of Ms. Cortese's room in the back loop. When departing school, please walk your bike or scooter until you are safely away from traffic and off the school property. Thank you for keeping everyone safe.
Lost and Found: Our lost and found is overflowing. If you know your child is missing an item, please encourage them to visit the lost and found.
