From the Senior Leadership Team – Term 3, Week 10
Kia ora whānau,
What a wonderful way to finish Term 3. This week’s PYP Exhibition has given our Year 8 learners the opportunity to share the inquiries they have worked so hard to develop. Across two days, learners have presented their ideas and projects to parents, whānau and our wider school community. Seeing them explain their thinking, answer questions and listen to others has been a highlight of the term. The Exhibition brings together the curiosity, independence, and commitment to learning that we value at TNIS. Thank you to everyone who came to support our learners, and to the staff who guided them through the process.
Last week we also celebrated Māori Language Week. It was a chance to celebrate te reo Māori in the everyday life of our school, and to reflect on the place of the language and culture in our community. We hope learners will keep using the kupu and phrases they have practised beyond the week itself.
Next term we will begin to have warmer days, and we remind our families that we strongly encourage our learners to wear a TNIS hat whenever they are are outside. We appreciate your support these last few weeks in ensuring that our school uniform is worn correctly.
Starting early next term, every class will be visiting the Auckland Museum to support the learning for the ‘Where We Are in Place and Time’ unit of inquiry. Your child’s teacher will notify you with details about this trip.
Thank you to our whole community for your support throughout a busy term. We wish our learners, families and staff a happy, safe and restful holiday break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 12 October.
Ngā mihi,
TNIS Senior Leadership Team
