Fairview News for the 2025-2026 School Year!

This final week of school before winter break will be filled with spirit and cheer! Our student council planned a spirit week, we have the Nibblin' Dragon on Monday afternoon, students are buying Candy Grams to share with their friends, and special treats for students and staff all week long. If you are planning on doing any special baking or treat making this week, and feel like sharing with us the staff love to have treats in the lounge. Although it is lots of fun and cheer, we still have to finish a lot of our middle of year requirements like testing.

As a reminder, there is no school Monday, December 22nd through Tuesday, January 6th. All students should return to school on Wednesday, January 7th. Please make your travel plans to ensure that everyone is here that Wednesday. During Winter Break I will be traveling and spending time with my loved ones so I will not be sending out a newsletter again until Sunday, January 4th. We hope that you and your family have a safe and special holiday season no matter what you do!

This newsletter will be sent out to you every Sunday to keep you informed of everything Fairview PK-8. Please read all the way to the bottom for important information and upcoming events.

Used Book Drive:

Student Council is sponsoring a Used Book Drive in December. While you are cleaning out your house if you have any slightly used books you no longer need please keep them for our book drive. Student Council will be collecting, sorting, and organizing the books by age level. Then, during one of our Dragon Den events in January, each student will be able to go pick out one book to take home with them. The remainder books will be donated to a local organization looking for used books. Thank you for your help in spreading a love of reading with everyone around us.

Update: Metal Health First-Aid Class for Adults- SPANISH CLASS

We had to reschedule the Spanish Mental Health First Aid Class originally scheduled in January to February. Once we know the date I will share the information with you.

We are happy to host a Mental Health First-Aid Class for adults in our community. Ms. Morelli and I participated in this learning over the summer and it was a phenomenal experience. When someone you care about is experiencing a mental health crisis it is important that you show them support. This 1- day course can help give you skills to support your loved ones, and you get a certificate of completion.

Fairview PK-8 and PBIS

Fairview is a PBIS school which means we carry the philosophy of using positive reinforcement for students. This philosophy is backed with years of research on how to speak, interact, motivate, and support students and children to make the right choices. To support our PBIS Philosophy we will use Class Dojo to reward students for making the right choice. When students don't make the right choice they don't earn a point. For more information on PBIS follow this link: https://www.pbis.org/

To help incentivize students to earn points, we will have an online school store where students can purchase items or experiences with their PBIS points. This will be discussed more at Back to School Night, during the first week of school, and at the first PTO meeting. Reach out if you have any questions.

Sign up for Class Dojo!

Class Dojo is an app you download to text and communicate with your students' teacher regularly. This is also a way for students to track the points they earn throughout the day for demonstrating RISE behaviors. Respect, Integrity, Service & Excellence are all character traits we teach our students in being amazing future leaders! When students earn points they can purchase items and experiences through our PBIS Online Store! Help your students by encouraging them to earn points and communicate with their teacher regularly! Sign up information will be available at Back to School Night!

Birthday Bash!

To alleviate classroom disruptions, and interfere with instructional time Fairview PK-8 established Birthday Bash. This is a way for students to be recognized on the first Friday of every month and celebrate with their classmates. Families are encouraged to bring a healthy treat for their class in the month their student has a birthday.

**August birthdays are celebrated in September. Also, June & July birthdays are celebrated in May.

Dragon of the Month!

Dragon of the Month is a way for teachers to recognize one student who goes above and beyond. The first Thursday of the Month we will invite families of students who are being recognized to join us for a celebration after school. Each teacher will give a 1-2 minute speech about their student, we will have cookies and refreshments, and a wonderful picture opportunity. It means so much to our students for families to show up, and support their students' success! This year we are pumping up the celebration by including an ice cream or sweet treat celebration on Friday during lunch. Please, encourage your student to be the Dragon of the Month!
