Message from the Principal
I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work our students have put in over these past few weeks. Their effort in the classroom, on the field, and in our school community continues to make me proud to be a Mustang. One highlight this week has been the round table conversations between administration and our freshmen during Freshmen Experience class. These candid discussions have given our newest Mustangs a better understanding of how North works, and the importance of putting their best foot forward during freshman year. Thank you to our freshmen for engaging so openly with us. We're also excited to see clubs getting up and running during EDGE. This time is designed to help students explore new interests, build community, and find their people outside the traditional classroom setting, and the energy around new and returning clubs has been fantastic to watch.
Extracurricular Update
Our fall athletes have been putting in the work, and it showed this week:
Field Hockey put up a hard-fought battle against Manual, falling just short 5-2. Our girls competed with heart the entire game.
Boys Soccer faced CAL in a tightly contested match that came down to penalty kicks, with CAL edging out the win. A tough way to lose, but a great showing of resilience.
Girls Soccer had a strong week, defeating CAL 5-1 and then dominating Bardstown 8-0. Congratulations to our girls on two impressive wins.
Marching Band is performing on Saturday at CAL. Check out www.kyband.com for scores and schedules.
Football has their first home game tonight vs. North Bullitt. Let’s pack the stands and cheer them on to victory.
Girls Volleyball’s next game is at Mercy on Monday. This is always a battle, so come out and support our girls as they look to secure a victory.
We're proud of every one of our student-athletes for representing North Oldham with pride and competitive spirit.
A Note on Bathroom Monitoring
I also want to take a moment to address our current bathroom monitoring practices, as I know it has been a topic of conversation among students and families. This approach was put in place directly in response to survey data from our students and staff, who told us they wanted increased supervision to help reduce vaping and vandalism in our restrooms.
Since implementing administrative presence in the bathrooms, we've seen a significant reduction in vaping sensor activations, and we've been able to ensure students aren't congregating in large numbers, which means students who genuinely need to use the restroom are able to do so without delay. We understand that this may be an inconvenience at times, and we appreciate your patience as we work through it. That said, the data clearly shows this is an effective method of monitoring, and it is paying off for our school community.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Go Mustangs!

Dual Credit Students – EKU Grade Checks
As a reminder, EKU dual credit students are required to attend regular grade checks with NOHS counselors during EDGE. These grade checks have already been scheduled in Enriching Students, and students have been placed in the appropriate sessions. The first grade check is today (Friday 8/24). Attendance is required, even for students who are double co-op.
Our NEXT grade check will be Friday, September 18, in the cafeteria.
Parents: Please keep in mind that NOHS does not have the same grade-monitoring capabilities in Infinite Campus for EKU dual credit courses as we do for traditional high school classes. To stay informed about your student's progress, we encourage you to regularly discuss their classes at home and ask them to log in to their myEKU account, access Canvas, and review their current grades with you.
