Family Survey

Students, staff, and parents are critical to Sunny Hill success, and we need your input! We are asking for 50% parent participation in the survey linked below! Your little one already knows about it, so we hope they are reminding you. We can do this! Complete the survey, fill out the slip your little one gives you, and they'll get a prize.

Sick Children Stay at Home

Sending our sick children to school is impacting other students' health and performance. Based on our typical attendance rate of 93.8%, we would expect about 15 students absent on a given day. Last Tuesday we had 30 absences—double the expected number. Statistically, this represents a very large and meaningful deviation from normal attendance patterns.

So, let's remember to keep a child home if they have any of these symptoms:

● Fever (100.4 degrees or higher, unmedicated, within the last 24 hours)

● Vomiting (2 times or more)

● Red or puffy eyes with crust or goop

● Diarrhea (2 times or more)

● Excessive coughing or sneezing

Children must stay home until they have been fever-free for 24 hours without using any medicine to lower the fever. Parents and guardians should also keep their child home for 24 hours after the last time they vomited or had diarrhea. Any student who is absent from school cannot attend special events (like holiday parties) or after-school activities that day.

Important Note on Medicine: Please do not send your child to school if you have given them medicine to suppress their symptoms. While medicine like Tylenol or Motrin can make a child feel better for a short time, they still spread germs to others.

💡 Parent Moves: Earning money💡

Providing an opportunity for your little one to earn money teaches character traits that we have been working on this year. We have been focusing on both responsibility and perseverance. Consider this: if your little one asks for money for a yoyo, let them practice perseverance and responsibility by earning money through age appropriate jobs. Maybe they can vaccuum the stairs, fold the laundry, feed the dog, or put the dishes away.

Talk to your little one about honesty

The guides below help you have great family conversations about honesty. If we don't talk about this at home, our little ones may not know that you value it and see how honesty has helped your life. One way to think about honesty is “being truthful in what you say and do.” Practicing honesty helps strengthen our relationships and even reduces stress.
