Good Morning,
At Tuesday night's Parent Council meeting we discussed what I hope will be the last tweak to the 2:15 dismissal. This last change is for 2:15 dismissal time, only. We are relocating the dismissal to door #7 for safety reasons. Parents will still park their cars in the horseshoe but will walk around to the entrance at door #7. There is a gate between the Town Hall lot and WECC. We ask that families stay behind the yellow gates, located outside door #7, once you arrive to pick up your child. Your child's teacher will dismiss the students as soon as they've made eye contact with the parent, guardian or adult listed on the pick up list.
You may ask, why is this safer?
- As you know, at the end of the week students have backpacks, lunch bags and rest things to be carried home. It can be challenging for students and staff to carry all of their belongings down the stairs, safely. With this change, students will no longer need to walk down the stairs when existing the building. There is a ramp inside door #7 and outside door #7 for students to access.
- We will be able to block off guest parking at the end of the day and keep the cars out in front of the Adams building which will allow for the classes to stand on the sidewalk and parents to stand behind the gates. There is more space to safely connect our families with their children.
Again, we appreciate your patience as we work through, what we hope to be the last change.
WECC School Council:
We are looking for School Council members. If you are interested in being a part of our school council please send me an email to let me know of your interest.
What is School Council?
There are four major areas of responsibility for school councils.
Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student performance standards
Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school
Reviewing the annual school building budget
Formulating a school improvement plan
Playground:
We have some wonderful news to share. The playground equipment has been ordered. We anticipate the wood chips to be delivered in the next couple of weeks and are crossing our fingers for a late fall installation.
In the meantime, the fencing has been installed around the grassy area and students are able to get outside to play. There are a few play houses in the grassy area for students to play in. How exciting!!
Safety:
We ask that parents, guardians or anyone you place on your child's pick up list have a picture ID with them. As we get to know our families and caregivers, we may ask for an ID, to verify our caregivers..
Tuition:
The Lockbox for dropping off tuition is now at door #7. No CASH should be placed into this box. Please do not use the one at the front of the building where the administration office is. Remember to put your child's name in the memo section of your check.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mrs. Perez, Principal
Mrs. MacKay, Vice Principal
I'm a Super Reader
Help us reach our goal of 10,000 books
One of the most important gifts we can give our children is to help them learn to read and write so that they can succeed in school and beyond. Confident, active readers are able to use their reading skills to follow their passions and curiosity about the world. We all read for a purpose: to be entertained, to take a journey of the imagination, to connect with others, to figure out how to do something, and to learn about history, science, the arts, and everything else.
We hope to foster the love of reading in our students. Please help us by helping your child read each day. Attached is a reading chart that your child can color each time they read a book. Bring the reading chart to school once all apples are colored and your child will receive a Super Reader sticker. You may choose to only read 10 books per month or submit as many reading charts as you want. We will be keeping track by classroom. If JECC students reach the goal of 10,000 books, we will have a Bubble party at the end of the year.
Help our students reach their goal!
