Homecoming Weekend Edition
Dear SGF Families,
Bulldog spirit was on full display on Friday as students and staff gathered for this year’s Homecoming Pep Rally.
The rally featured a variety of activities and games that kept the crowd energized, including teacher musical chairs, a balloon-popping challenge, and the always-popular opportunity to see teachers get pied in the face. Performances by the varsity cheer team added to the festive atmosphere, while students rallied behind the district’s fall athletic teams as they prepared for Homecoming weekend.
For many students, the pep rally was a highlight of Homecoming Week and an opportunity to connect with classmates while celebrating shared traditions.
For senior Mia Newell, the pep rally was both a celebration of school spirit and a chance to reflect on four years of Bulldog memories.
“It’s definitely a little sad, but I’m really happy because I get to be here with all of my teammates, and I know it’s the last time with them, but we’re gonna make it last, and we’re gonna keep our season going strong,” said Newell.
The enthusiasm displayed throughout the event reflected the strong sense of community that school leaders say defines the Bulldog experience. Principal Nicky Bogert said the pep rally showcased the best of that spirit.
“Once again, our pep rally showcased the tremendous school spirit that makes our Bulldog community so special. Seeing students come together, cheer each other on, and celebrate our Homecoming traditions is a wonderful reminder of the Bulldog pride we all share,” said Bogert.
For students, the pep rally was more than a celebration of school spirit. It was also an opportunity to feel connected to the Bulldog community. Freshman [Student Name] said the experience left a lasting impression.
For freshmen Kierra Amadon and Avery Brumley, the Homecoming pep rally was a memorable introduction to high school spirit and Bulldog pride. Attending their first pep rally, both students said the energy and excitement in the gym made them feel more connected to their new school community.
“The energy was really high, and there were such positive vibes,” said Brumley. “I loved it. It was great. It made me feel like I really fit in at the high school and that I’m truly a Bulldog.”
Amadon agreed, saying the experience helped her feel welcomed and excited to be part of the school community.
The event also marked a memorable milestone for Superintendent of Schools Dr. Michele Whitley, who attended her first Bulldog Homecoming Pep Rally in the district.
“My first Homecoming pep rally was an unforgettable experience. The energy and excitement in the gym reflected the pride staff and students have in their school and their community. Events like this highlight the strong sense of community that defines our district, and I feel fortunate to be a part of it,” said Whitley.
Homecoming celebrations will continue throughout the weekend, beginning with the Homecoming football game at 7 p.m. on Friday evening and concluding with the Homecoming dance on Saturday night.
Our other buildings took part in the homecoming fun by hosting theme days and dressed in blue and red on Friday!
Ms. Clough even wore her father's varsity letter jacket from the early 80's!
Wear Pink on October 9 to Support Breast Cancer Awareness
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of early detection, supporting those affected by breast cancer, and advancing research efforts. With approximately 1 in 8 women expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, this disease has touched the lives of countless individuals, families and communities.
To show our support and help raise awareness, we invite all students, staff and families across the district to wear pink on Friday, October 9. By coming together in pink, we can demonstrate our commitment to those impacted by breast cancer and help encourage conversations about the importance of regular screenings and preventive care.
Join us as we stand together in support, hope and awareness.

Peer Mediation Training
The South Glens Falls Peer Mediation Program recently brought together 12 middle schoolers and 18 high schoolers for an immersive, all-day training focused on building community, developing core mediation skills, and practicing real-world conflict resolution. Peer mediation empowers students to help their classmates resolve everyday conflicts peacefully, constructively, and confidentially through guided communication. By stepping up as peer mediators, these 30 student leaders are learning how to actively listen, foster empathy, and guide their peers toward positive solutions, strengthening our school community from the inside out.

The view from the top
Ms. Jones' and Mr. Purvis' fourth-grade classes tackled Prospect Mountain in Lake George on Wednesday, Sept. 30. All students persevered, demonstrated courage, and thought creatively while navigating the slippery rocks caused by rain showers. Though the view was obscured by heavy fog, they loved being "up in the clouds" together.

Mrs. Brown's Bulldog Brick Masters at OWWMS are busy creating LEGO® masterpieces during Advisory!
Right now, students are putting their creativity and engineering skills to work as they design and build their own amusement park rides.
Working together, students are creating rides that are fun, creative, sturdy, and appealing to visitors. They are also thinking like real designers as they develop a ride name, theme, and presentation to "sell" their creation.
Note: The Bulldog Brick Masters are always looking for more LEGO bricks! If you have LEGO pieces at home that you are no longer using and would like to donate, we would be grateful. You can send them to the middle school, where they will be put to good use by our creative builders!
