Dear Torringford Families,

"Kindness is like snow—it beautifies everything it touches." – Unknown

February has arrived, and with it comes a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the warmth of our school community. This month is all about spreading kindness and showing our appreciation for one another. Whether it’s a high-five in the hallway or a helping hand in the classroom, our Torringford Tigers continue to show us that big hearts come in small sizes! We are so proud of the inclusive, caring environment our students, staff, and families build together every single day.

We are especially excited to announce that Thursday, February 12th, will mark our 100th Day of School! It is truly amazing to see how much our students have grown since September. Reaching this milestone is a testament to their hard work and your incredible support at home. We can't wait to see the creative ways our young Tigers celebrate being "100 days smarter!"

Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for our Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences, which will be held on March 23rd, 24th, and 25th. These conversations are a vital part of our partnership, allowing us to celebrate your child’s progress and set goals for the remainder of the year. Keep an eye out for more details on how to sign up for a time slot that works for you.

Thank you for sharing your children with us and for being such an essential part of the Torringford family. Let's make this February full of learning, laughter, and love!

With Tiger Pride,

Mrs. Galullo (Principal) & Mrs. Austin (Assistant Principal)

Celebrating Our PAWSOME Tigers!

At Torringford School, we love catching our students being respectful, responsible, and safe! Our PAWSOME card program is a special way we recognize students who go above and beyond to make positive choices in the classroom, on the playground, in the cafeteria, and even on the bus.

When a student earns a PAWSOME card, they aren't just getting a "good job"—they are helping us build a kind and supportive school family where everyone feels ready to learn. We encourage you to ask your child about their "Tiger Pride" and celebrate these small wins at home, too!

In January, we reached a huge milestone with 476 PAWSOME cards awarded!

A special "Tiger High-Five" goes to our recent winners:

  • Asia Torres: Science Experiment with Mrs Henry
  • Anjali Samaroo: Fancy Lunch with Mrs. Austin

  • Yeselyn Chau Kelly: Legos with Mrs Galullo

  • Finley Beckett: Arts & Crafts with Ms. Mangine

  • Aliyah Rice: Poster Prize with Mrs Cifaldi

Positive Choices: PAWSOME at Home!

We challenge our Tiger families to bring the "PAWSOME" spirit home! It’s a great way to reinforce the positive habits your children are practicing every day at school.

The Challenge: Try to "catch" your child being Respectful, Responsible, or Safe during your evening routine. Maybe they cleared their plate without being asked (Responsible), spoke kindly to a sibling (Respectful), or walked carefully while carrying a drink (Safe).

How to Celebrate:

  • Give a Verbal PAW-tap: "I noticed you were being so responsible by putting your shoes away. That’s PAWSOME!"

  • The High-Five Habit: A simple high-five goes a long way in making those good choices stick.

  • Share the News: Have your child tell you about one positive choice they made at school today so you can celebrate it together.

Let’s keep working together to help our students shine!

It was wonderful to see our school community come together for our "Our Culture Is Beautiful" event! We had a fantastic turnout, with families from all backgrounds sharing the unique traditions and stories that make Torringford so special.

The evening was filled with creativity and connection as families worked together to design beautiful posters representing their heritage. These vibrant displays are now featured throughout our hallways, serving as a daily reminder of the diverse and rich cultures that unite us as one Tiger family.

Making the Best of the Chilly Days

While the winter chill has kept us inside recently, our preschoolers have been buzzing with energy and creativity! From burning off steam on our indoor mini-trampoline to working together on building projects, the children are finding wonderful ways to stay active during indoor recess.

It’s been a joy to watch them strengthen their social skills through group games and collaborative play in our various classroom centers. Even when it's too cold for the playground, our little learners are proving that a bit of imagination and a lot of movement make for a perfect recess!!
