Dear Booker Families,
Our Bengals are continuing to work hard and show their Booker Best! Thank you for ensuring students arrived on time, well-rested, and ready to complete their Beginning-of-the-Year assessments. Your support makes a tremendous difference!
As BOY testing continues, we are beginning to review the results to identify each student’s strengths and areas for growth. Teachers will use this information to plan targeted instruction, small groups, interventions, and tutorials. Our goal is to meet every student where they are and provide the support needed to move them forward.
Please continue helping your child succeed by:
- Attending school every day and arriving between 7:35 and 8:00 a.m.
- Avoiding tardies and early checkouts.
- Reading together for at least 20 minutes each evening and writing a quick response.
- Asking your child what they learned and having them explain their thinking.
- Encouraging them to work hard, ask questions, and never give up.
Every lesson matters, and every school day is another opportunity to grow. Missing even one day can cause students to fall behind in important instruction. Let’s continue working together to keep our Bengals present, prepared, focused, and ready to learn! We have started strong, but now it is time to build on that momentum. Together, we will continue Getting Booker Better Faster and moving more Bengals into MEETS and MASTERS!
This year is about TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS, B or Better, Bengals! One Family. One Focus. One Fact: BOOKER IS BACK!
With Bengal Pride,
Keisha Womack
Principal

All Students PreK-5th Grade Must Wear their Badges, Daily!
ATTENTION PARENTS OF BUS RIDERS!
No Badge, No Ride Policy starts September 14, 2026!
On September 2, 2026, all parents got a communication from Transportation regarding the “No Badge, No Ride” policy, which will take effect September 14 for all students who ride the bus. This safety initiative, introduced last year and continuing this school year, requires every student to have their ID badge to board the bus, ensuring proper tracking as students badge on and off.
Key Details for Communication:
Student Requirement: Students must have their ID to ride. Please find a way to remind your child to wear their badges daily!
We encourage you to download the Smart Tag app for real-time tracking. Visit Smart Tag Website for more details
Lost Badges: Replacement badges will cost $5. Parents, please come to the front office to buy a replacement or send the $5 with your child. We will print a new badge for your child. However, be mindful that replacement badges do not have student pictures on them.
We appreciate your support in the implementation of this district policy and ensuring we have a smooth transition on Septembr 14th!
Best regards,
Spring ISD Transportation Department
BOY TESTING WINDOW - STARTS AUGUST 31 (8/31-9/18)
ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
Why Attendance Matters!
September Is Attendance Awareness Month!
Every day at school matters! When students attend school regularly and arrive on time, they build stronger academic skills, develop positive routines, and stay connected with their teachers and classmates. Even a few missed days can make it difficult for students to catch up.
Attendance is directly connected to academic success. Consider these facts:
- Missing only two days each month can equal approximately 18 days or 10% of the school year and is considered chronic absenteeism.
- Only 17% of students who were chronically absent in kindergarten and first grade were reading proficiently by third grade, compared with 64% of students who attended regularly.
- Students who are not reading on grade level by third grade are four times more likely not to graduate from high school.
- Excused and unexcused absences both result in lost instruction, unfinished learning, and difficulty keeping up with classmates.
Please help us reach our 98% attendance goal by ensuring your child is at school every day, on time, and ready to learn. Together, we can keep our Bengals on track for success. Attendance matters and because every day counts with reaching our campus goal, B or Better!
ATTEND TO WIN - ATTENDANCE AWARENESS MONTH!
Every day in school is an opportunity to learn, connect and grow. When students are present, they build stronger relationships, stay engaged in their learning and take another step toward reaching their goals.
This month, we’re reminding every Spring ISD student: Your Presence Matters.
Being here. Being engaged. Being part of your school community. It all matters.
Let’s make every school day count!
Estar presente. Participar. Ser parte de tu comunidad escolar. Todo cuenta.
¡Hagamos que cada día de clases cuente!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Transportation Changes
All transportation changes must be submitted in writing with a parent signature or in person, prior to 2:30pm of the effective date. It is recommended that you send a note with your child if you need to change transportation. Please follow up on Class Dojo with your teacher to ensure he/she has received the note. We will not take any transportation changes over the phone or by email. You may fax your request with a copy of your ID to 281-891-8751 and call to confirm receipt. If you have an emergency and need to change your transportation for safety reasons, you will need to call the front office and speak with one of our receptionists.
Tardies - We are asking for all students to transition to class by 7:55am.
The car rider line will close promptly at 7:59 am. Any students arriving at 8 am or after will need to be signed in by a parent. You will need to park, sign in the front office with a valid ID. Classes start promptly at 8:05am.
Early Pick Ups - Parents must sign students out with valid ID and provide a reason for leaving.
Please be mindful that we are required by law to be in attendance for at least 75,600 minutes of instruction, including intermissions and recess. Early pickups must be completed by 2:30pm.
Absences - If your child misses a day, please provide a note informing the attendance clerk, the reason for the absence, sign and date and send it to school with your child, the following day. Parent letters are not required if your child has a doctor's excuse. Parents have 3 days to send in excuses so that attendance records can be resolved into excused/unexcused absences. Remember that notes only provide us the documentation and coding of the absence: Notes do not dismiss absences. The state requires students to be in attendance 90% of the time to avoid penalty.
Lunch Visits/Lunch Deliveries - Booker is closed for lunch visits and lunch deliveries. If your child forgets his/her lunch kit, please drop off their lunch kit in the front office before 9:45am, to ensure our staff has ample time to deliver it to them before their scheduled lunch time. Lunch visits are on hold to allow our teachers, staff, and students to get acquainted with being back in school and establishing our systems and routines. We are looking at ways to involve parents in lunch visits without jeopardizing the safety of our scholars and our instructional focus. Stay tuned!
Birthdays - You are more than welcome to celebrate your child's birthday by sending prepacked goodies and/or store bought cupcakes (sealed) with your child or dropping them off at the front office. Your ID is required. No balloons or bouquets allowed.
OUR FIRST FUNDRAISER! SIMPLE, EASY & OPEN TO EVERYONE!
SAFETY FIRST!
BUS RIDERS
- All bus riders must have their Smart Tag IDs before loading the bus
- PreK and Kinder students will only be allowed off the bus with their pin numbers
- No cell phone use on the bus
- All students must comply with bus rules and procedures
