A Letter from Mr. Savage
The first full week of school is officially in the books and we are off to a great start. The classrooms are active and the students are engaged in some awesome activities and learning opportunities! The hallways and classrooms are full of energy and it is evident that the staff and students are excited about the upcoming year. Granted, we have had to fix some minor problems with schedules and lunch times but those issues are expected and we are already getting into a daily routine.
The hot temperatures this past week put a wrinkle into our sports practice schedule with early morning practices for our high school and junior high football squads. This created some long days for both the squad members and coaching staff but it appears that cooler temperatures are on the way and we can get back into a regular schedule soon. The high school team will get the season underway tonight, August 25th, with the preseason Jamboree. The Mustangs will host Republic County and Oskaloosa in a controlled scrimmage with game officials being used. The game will start at 8:00 pm to accommodate the temperatures and provide for player safety. The Lady Mustangs get their season underway on Saturday, August 26th when they travel to the Marysville Invitational. Their first game in pool play will be at 9:00 am. We encourage all of our Mustang fans to come on out and support our athletes. By the way, weekly schedules of events are posted as part of this Electronic Newsletter.
We would like to inform all of our patrons that the Mustang in front of the building will be coming down soon so we can do some much-needed repairs on our mascot. We have informed Booster Club but we don’t want anyone to be surprised as they pass by the building and don’t see the Mustang standing out front. The repairs will take some time to complete but our hope is to have the mascot back up just as soon as we can!
Sports pictures for our high school volleyball, football and cross-country teams will be on Monday, August 28th at the beginning of practice in the afternoon. Cross Country will start at 3:00 pm with football starting at 3:30 pm. Volleyball will be taken right after football. At the Junior/Senior High School we will be having Courtney D Photography handling all of our photography needs, including fall individual pictures, this year!
Have a great week!
