Tombaugh Elementary Newsletter: September 2024
A Word from your Principals:
Dear Tombaugh Families:
As we progress through the school year, We want to take a moment to emphasize the critical role that regular attendance plays in your child's education.
Consistent attendance is key to academic success. When students attend school regularly, they gain the full benefit of our educational programs, build strong relationships with their peers and teachers, and develop important habits that will serve them well throughout their lives.
Each day in the classroom is an opportunity for your child to learn and grow. Absences, even occasional ones, can disrupt their learning and make it harder for them to keep up with their studies. Research shows that students who attend school regularly are more likely to perform well academically and are less likely to fall behind.
We understand that there are times when absences are unavoidable due to illness or family emergencies. However, we encourage you to prioritize attendance whenever possible and to communicate with us if your child needs to miss school. Together, we can work to minimize the impact of absences and support your child's educational journey.
Tardies have also been a continual issue as we average approximately 50 TARDIES a day. Students can be dropped off beginning at 7:30 a.m. The bell rings @ 7:50 a.m. for teachers to pick up students from playground. The first bell rings @ 7:55 a.m. The tardy bell @ 8:00 a.m. We start our Intervention Block daily at 8:15 a.m. Therefore, it is imperative for your child to arrive to school on time so they do not miss out on valuable small group instruction.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child's education. We appreciate your efforts to ensure that your child is present and engaged in school each day.
