Leonard Walking Club - Starting 9/16/2026 Leonard Walking Club - Starting 9/16/2026

Our Leonard Walking Club starts this Wednesday, September 16, at 8:30 AM! Students and families are welcome to join us for a morning walk around the track before school. Students can earn paws for each lap they complete and work toward fun rewards along the way!

No sign-up is needed—just drop your child off near the playgrounds between 8:30–8:45 AM and have them join us on the track. Please have your child bring their backpack and place it inside the fence.

Parents are encouraged to join us, too! This is a great opportunity to be active alongside your child and model healthy, active habits as a family. We would love to see our Leonard families walking, talking, and getting their day started together!

We hope to see you out there! Go Leopards!

Mr. Grant, Mrs. Geary, and Mrs. Beacom

FUN RUN - September 18th FUN RUN - September 18th

The FUN RUN is happening next Friday! Pledge packets went home earlier this week and need to be turned in on or before Friday, September 18th. A printable version of the pledge packet is attached below.

We are excited for our annual Fun Run! This event is one of our most memorable of the year! The energy, enthusiasm, and camaraderie of the day is truly special. Not only is it a fun community event, it is also the most important fundraiser for our PTO. The success of the Fun Run has allowed our PTO to provide busing for field trips, opportunities for classroom projects and parties, and building enhancements. Your generous support allows us to continue to enhance the elementary experience for your children. This year, we are asking each student to donate $80 to help us achieve our school goal of $27,000. Children can earn their donation by doing extra chores for family or friends. When sending in your pledges/donations, please make sure your child's name and teacher are clearly marked on the envelope. The class with the highest donations will earn the GOLDEN SHOES!

On Friday, September 18, please help your child remember to:

  • Wear tennis shoes
  • Wear their class color (see details below)
  • Put sunscreen on at home (teachers cannot apply sunscreen)

We invite and encourage families to come cheer on their runners! Once again this year we will be holding the Fun Run in the front of the school. Family and friends are welcome to line the course during their child's designated times. During the half-hour time slot, runners will be welcomed to the course and given directions. Then, they'll have 15 minutes to run, jog, and walk around the course. We may even have a dancing Leopard here to cheer them on!

Voluntary Student Insurance Coverage Voluntary Student Insurance Coverage

Because medical costs can be expensive, Troy School District does provide families the opportunity to purchase student accident insurance on their student through Student Assurance Servies, Inc.

This supplemental policy would assist with your out-of-pocket medical expenses (i.e. deductible) should your student sustain an accidental injury while coverage is in effect. Also, if you do not have any insurance on your student, this would be primary for accidental injuries. There is a variety of coverage options and premiums are a one-time payment for the school year.

Please review the short video link below as well as the attached forms regarding student accident insurance.

If you have any questions about this coverage, please contact Student Assurance Services directly at (800) 328-2739.

You can click on the flyer below to sign up online, or you can download and print the attachment to fill out the application.

An Extra Set of Clothes - A Backpack Stash An Extra Set of Clothes - A Backpack Stash

Please make sure that every student has an extra set of weather-appropriate clothes in their backpack (including shirt, pants, socks, and underwear). These can just be something old from their closet that can live in a plastic bag in their backpack. The clothes are helpful for so many reasons. Kids can spill their lunches, have a bathroom accident, or get muddy during recess. Having the extra clothes allows your child to quickly change and get back to the fun, and prevents us from having to interrupt your day. Without the extra set of clothes, we have to call home and have someone bring clothes up to the school. Thanks for your help with this!

PTO Information PTO Information

Our Leonard PTO is a wonderful organization that provides opportunities for our families to extend and enrich our community and our children's school experiences. Our next PTO meeting is Tuesday, September 15th at 6:30 PM.

Did you know...

  • You're already a member!
  • There is no membership fee for our PTO - having a child attend Leonard is the only requirement.
  • You can come to one, some, or all of the meetings. Attending a meeting is mostly about making friends and learning about what's happening in the school. Also, just by attending a meeting, you aren't committing to volunteer in any way (although, there are always opportunities to pitch in if you're looking for some!).
