GVMS 8th Grade Assigned NAEP Assessment GVMS 8th Grade Assigned NAEP Assessment

Dear Families and Students

This year, our school has been selected to participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), often called the “Nation’s Report Card.” On February 24, a random sample of 50 eighth-grade students will take part in either the ELA or Math portion of the assessment.

NAEP is different from our state assessments. Individual student scores are not reported, and results do not impact grades, promotion, or teacher evaluations. Instead, NAEP provides valuable information about how students across the country are performing and helps educators and policymakers better understand trends in learning.

Students selected to participate will complete the assessment during the school day in a supportive, low-pressure environment. We encourage families to help by ensuring students get a good night’s rest and arrive at school on time that day. We are proud of our students for representing our school and appreciate your support.

The assessment will last about an hour and families and students will be notified of who has been assigned later in the month.

Sincerely,
Kim Davis
Principal
