PBIS MYTH
PBIS FACT
PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) is a prevention-oriented, multi-tiered framework designed to create predictable, safe, and supportive learning environments. While reinforcement is one component, PBIS also emphasizes:
- Clear expectations
- Explicit instruction of social behaviors
- Data-based decision-making
- Systems-level supports
- Equity-focused implementation
Research consistently shows that well-implemented PBIS improves school climate, reduces exclusionary discipline, and increases instructional time.
