PBIS FACT

  • PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) is a prevention-oriented, multi-tiered framework designed to create predictable, safe, and supportive learning environments. While reinforcement is one component, PBIS also emphasizes:

    • Clear expectations
    • Explicit instruction of social behaviors
    • Data-based decision-making
    • Systems-level supports
    • Equity-focused implementation
Research consistently shows that well-implemented PBIS improves school climate, reduces exclusionary discipline, and increases instructional time.
