This year, Assembly Bill (AB) 800 (Ortega) has been implemented in all California public schools. AB 800 requires that all California public schools provide students in grades eleven and twelve with essential information about their rights as workers during Workforce Readiness Week.
The week prepares students to enter the workforce knowing their rights as young workers, enables minors to recognize when they are encountering illegal labor practices and unsafe working conditions and self-advocate when necessary to protect themselves, creates awareness of the power of unions to protect labor rights and the right to organize, and informs students of the benefits and opportunities provided by state-approved apprenticeships.

We are pleased to announce that Sarah Phillips, RDN has been selected as the District’s new Director of Child Nutrition Services. Ms. Phillips officially joined the CVUSD leadership team earlier this month.
Ms. Phillips comes to the Conejo having formerly served as the Assistant Director of Child Nutrition Services in another local school district. She is credited with collaborating with school sites to best meet the needs of students and oversaw meal programs from recipe development to menu compliance. She has led training sessions for staff and championed student-led participation in the district’s meal service programs.
Ms. Peters was publicly recognized as the CVUSD’s 2025 Teacher of the Year at the Wednesday, April 16, 2025 Board of Education meeting. She will now be entered as the CVUSD’s nominee for the Ventura County Teacher of the Year honor. Congratulations, Ms. Peters on this hard-earned recognition and for the invaluable impact you make in students' lives each and every day!
The Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce has partnered monthly each year with the CVUSD since 1991 to honor one teacher who engages and supports all students in learning by demonstrating high professional standards, engaging with families and the community, and opening doors by recognizing the diverse needs of all learners. This school year eight CVUSD teachers from across our district were recognized with the Teacher of the Month honor, which entered them as a nominee for the 2024-2025 Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce CVUSD Teacher of the Year. Ms. Peters was previously recognized as CVUSD’s February 2025 Teacher of the Month.
