Desmares Do-Gooders Make a Difference Through Community Service
Francis A. Desmares School’s Dolphin Do-Gooders Club gives students the opportunity to make a difference in their community through acts of service and kindness. Modeled after the high school’s Key Club, the club helps students learn the value of giving back. For their first project, students assembled 24 care kits filled with crayons, Play-Doh, squishies, and other small items to bring comfort to young cancer patients at Hunterdon Medical Center’s Hunterdon Cancer Center. The students and their families will deliver the care packages on November 13. Upcoming projects will support residents at Independence Manor, the Flemington Food Pantry, and Tabby’s Place. Check out the photos of our Dolphin Do-Gooders in action!
RFIS Huskies Explore Air Quality with Go Hunterdon
Reading-Fleming Intermediate School students recently teamed up with Go Hunterdon to learn about air quality and how everyday choices can help protect the environment. Students explored the dangers of vehicle idling, which releases harmful exhaust into the atmosphere, contributes to air pollution, and can worsen respiratory conditions such as asthma. Idling also wastes fuel and money. Did you know even a half-hour of idling burns about a quarter-gallon of gas? Students are spreading the word by encouraging families to turn off their engines while waiting in school pickup and drop-off lines. They’re also asking adults to sign an online petition to show their commitment to cleaner air. As part of their efforts, RFIS students even created their own air quality sensor!

Nature Walks Inspire Creative Self-Portraits at Copper Hill
Copper Hill students in Kindergarten through second grade took a nature walk around the school grounds, collecting leaves and other natural treasures. They then used their finds to create unique, nature-inspired self-portraits! This is just one of the many creative activities students enjoy as members of the Fall Self-Portrait Club.
Turning a page at the JPC Book Fair!

All ELA classes are visiting the fair, giving students the opportunity to browse new titles, explore different genres, discover new authors, and find books that spark their curiosity and imagination. Whether they are searching for the next page-turning mystery, an adventurous fantasy, or a book that connects to their personal interests, students are experiencing the joy of choosing what they want to read.
