A Note from Ms. Eaton
August 20, 2024
Dear students and families,
I am writing with an update about your school counselor assignment for the upcoming school year. Ms. Sharon Lee has recently taken a position in her hometown and will not be returning to Watertown High School this fall. I know that this news, particularly for returning students, may cause some worry, but rest assured, we are actively moving through the hiring process for a counselor to take on her role for the year and I am confident that we will be introducing you to your new counselor soon!
For the time being, once schedules are released, scheduling questions can be directed to the following counselors:
Grade 9: Mr. Craig Surdam (craig.surdam@watertown.k12.ma.us)
Grade 10: Ms. Chaiyanne Monteiro (chaiyanne.monteirodobson@watertown.k12.ma.us)
Grade 11: Ms. Amber Edwards (amber.edwards@watertown.k12.ma.us)
Grade 12: Mr. Ryan Dowd (ryan.dowd@watertown.k12.ma.us)
For all other questions or concerns, please contact me (Ms. Eaton, adrienne.eaton@watertown.k12.ma.us) directly.
A note about schedules
We are currently reviewing schedules to make sure that you have all of your required classes and are making progress toward graduation requirements. You will receive an email on Friday (August 23) when schedules are visible in PowerSchool. Before Friday, you may receive an email from a member of the counseling department if I have a question about your schedule or if there is an unavoidable conflict that we'd like to discuss with you, so please check your email.
Your schedule was built based on the requests that you made in the Spring. If there was an unavoidable conflict or a class was at capacity, I may have added a different class to your schedule to make sure you are enrolled in enough credits and are making progress toward graduation. We can look at alternatives, but it can be difficult to make changes to courses. Remember that schedules changes must be made before the first day of school (by Friday, August 30) or during the Add/Drop period (September 12-20).
We look forward to a successful school year!
