Weekly Update

Dear Elmore School Families,

It was great to be back together this week after a nice long break. I think it is safe to say everyone was happy to see each other as the classroom was a buzz of energy, smiles, and giggles this week.

The short week allowed us to ease back into the school routine gracefully. We ended the week on a high note, as we resumed our ECO programing with a focus on the States of Matter. Students learned a little about the 3 states of matter and then constructed "ice baby" shelters in an effort to keep their ice baby from melting over the next week. We also mixed up some jello to see if it would thicken enough to solidify during ECO. During Forest Choice students roasted bread on a stick while others played in the snow or whittled sticks. We ended with sits spots and tea before our silent goodbye to the forest. Our new ECO Naturalist teacher from NBNC is Annie Jackson who will be spending the next few weeks with us. We will end the year with Naturalist, Ana Marie, as Carrie is still recovering from her stroke last December. Both Annie and Ana Marie are creative, energetic, and knowledgable educators, and I feel optimistic about their leadership!

We could use more kindling for our campfires at ECO. Donation are welcome anytime!

Spring is just round the corner and the days are getting longer and warmer! Please send extra clothes (especially pants) with your child, as lots of kids had wet clothes after being outside in the wet snow this week.

We have a new filtered water station with a drinking fountain and a water bottle refill station. I encourage students to continue bringing a water bottle to school which they can refill as needed.

We have Family Hot Lunch (TBD) on Monday, provided by the Bowen Family. We will have school Hot Lunch on Tuesday and Thursday. Sandwiches and Salads are available Tuesday - Friday. Please Submit your lunch orders by 6:00 pm on Sunday.

The second trimester ends on March 13th. Family/teacher conferences will take place on March 26th and 27th. Each conference will take about 20-30 minutes. Use the green button below to sign up for a conference.

In gratitude,

Diane Nicholls
