Madison Middle School

Respect | Responsibility | Relationships
February 23 - February 27
Hello Mustang Families!
Last year, Madison Middle School celebrated its 30th anniversary. As part of that milestone, we began revisiting our mission and vision to ensure they reflect who we are today and how we can best prepare students for high school and beyond.
Since November, we’ve gathered thoughtful input through community forums, student forums and interviews, surveys of students, staff, and parents, as well as staff meetings and leadership team collaboration. We are grateful for the participation and insight our community has brought to this process.
Based on this collective feedback, we have landed on the following mission and vision statements. The response has been very positive, and we are excited about the direction they set for our school. Before making them official, we are inviting one final round of feedback from our families.
Mission: At Madison Middle School, we create a strong sense of belonging, challenge all students with meaningful learning, and provide equitable, responsive practices and diverse opportunities so everyone can grow and succeed.
Vision: Madison Middle School is a place where every student experiences the best of middle school: feeling safe and welcome, academically challenged and supported, and prepared with the skills and confidence needed for high school and beyond.
Values: Respect | Responsibility | Relationships
Please CLICK HERE to provide any additional feedback, positive or constructive, as we take this final step together. Thank you for being an essential partner in shaping the future of Madison Middle School.
I hope our students had a restful break and are ready to return! We return to school tomorrow with our regular 10am late start Monday.

New e-Bike Information
Important Information for Parents: E-Bike Safety and City Regulations
The Oceanside Police Department (OPD) has shared updated information with middle and high schools regarding recent changes to the Oceanside Municipal Code related to e-bike use. These changes are in response to an increase in safety concerns, calls for service, and community complaints.
Beginning February 28, 2026, e-bikes may be temporarily seized under certain circumstances, including:
-
Riding an e-bike recklessly or without proper regard for safety
-
Receiving two or more e-bike–related citations within a 12-month period
-
Double-riding on bikes that are not designed or equipped to carry passengers
OPD has noted that many e-bike violations involve middle and high school–aged students, often with little or no formal traffic safety training. The primary goal of these changes is education and safety, not punishment. In many cases, violations may be resolved by the student completing a bicycle safety course.
To support families and students, OPD has created a new e-bike safety brochure available in English and Spanish. The brochure explains:
-
E-bike laws and rules of the road
-
Important safety tips for young riders
-
What families should know if an e-bike is seized
We encourage parents to review this information with their students and talk together about safe and responsible e-bike use. Working together helps keep our students and community safe.
