Principal's Perspectives
Dear Shamrock Springs Families,
It is hard to believe that we are getting so close to moving into our NEW Shamrock Springs Elementary School! What once seemed so far away is quickly becoming a reality, and we could not be more excited to begin this next chapter together.
I want to share some important dates and details to help our families plan ahead for this exciting transition.
December 18 | A Special Day for Our Students!
On December 18, our students and teachers will begin saying goodbye to our current building and hello to our new home! Students will take the items from their desk and cubby to the new school and have an opportunity to enjoy a quick tour of their new learning spaces.
Over winter break, a professional moving company will handle the transition of classroom materials and furnishings, allowing our teachers to enjoy a well-deserved break before returning to prepare their new classrooms.
PTO Packing Assistance: The PTO will be reaching out soon with opportunities to assist with packing spaces in our current building. Keep an eye out for more information on how to get involved. If you love to pack, now is a perfect opportunity!
January 4 | District Teacher Work Day – No School for Students
Monday, January 4, is a district-scheduled teacher work day. There will be no school for students across the district.
January 5 | eLearning Day – Shamrock Springs ONLY
Tuesday, January 5, will be an eLearning Day for Shamrock Springs Elementary students only.
This additional day will provide our teachers and staff with the time needed to unpack, organize, prepare classrooms, and ensure our new building is ready to welcome students. Specific eLearning expectations and instructions will be sent home to families closer to January 5.
We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we work to make this transition as smooth and successful as possible for our students.
BAC Families
BAC will be open on both January 4 and January 5 for students registered in the program. BAC will operate in our NEW Shamrock Springs Elementary School on both days!
Other Notes & Reminders
Current Building Farewell Event: As a reminder, Thursday, Oct. 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. is our Farewell event at the current building. The event is an open house style where the community is welcome to walk through the school.
Current Building Photos: WWS’ in-house media team Rocks Media House recently visited to take photos to keep a historical log of the current building. Those photos can be accessed and downloaded for free from this album. We ask that if you post photos, you credit Rocks Media House (Instagram: @rocksmediahouse)
New Building Open House/Tour: We do not currently have a date set, however we cannot wait to invite our Shamrock Springs families to explore our beautiful new school. We will communicate with families once that date is solidified.
What Happens After Dec. 18th?: December 18th will mark the last day the current building will be occupied or utilized by students. Eventually, the property will be fenced off, and the demolition process will begin in phases.
New building. New beginnings. Same amazing Shamrock Springs family! 🍀
We know that our current building holds countless memories for students, staff, and families. While saying goodbye may feel bittersweet, the heart of Shamrock Springs has never been the walls around us. It has always been the people, the relationships, and the memories we create together. Those things will travel with us to our new home!
As your principal, I am incredibly grateful for the patience, flexibility, and support of our Shamrock Springs community throughout this journey. Moving an entire elementary school is no small task, but what an amazing opportunity we have ahead of us! Thank you for being part of this exciting chapter. We cannot wait to welcome you into our new home.
With Shamrock Pride,
Annette Patchett
Principal, Shamrock Springs Elementary School
Nurse's Notes
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Having good vision is very important to the success of a child's education. Indiana code IC 20-34-3-12 requires that public schools conduct a near and far vision acuity screening for all 3rd grade students. SSES has the Lions Club coming on 10/27/26 to perform these.
If your child already has glasses or contact lenses to help them see near or far please help them remember to bring these to school. They will be screened with their corrective lenses. If your student needs additional vision testing a note will be sent home.
If you would like to opt out of the screening, please send your request to morganl@wws.k12.in.us and include your child's full name and DOB.
Sincerely,
Nurse Lisa

If your child will be out for an elective absence—such as a vacation or sports event—those absences are considered Excused if:

If you have any questions about your child’s attendance, please reach out to Teresa Stephens by email at stephenst@wws.k12.in.us.

Weekend Back Sacks
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We are happy to announce that we will continue to offer food support again this year for families who can benefit from this assistance with the Back Sacks Program! Through this program, our goal is to help feed our kiddos on the weekends when school breakfast and lunch is not available. We are so thankful to Open Doors of Westfield and Merciful HELP in Carmel for helping make this happen.
At the end of each week, your child will receive a small sack of food in his or her backpack. The sack will have two small breakfast meals, two small lunch meals, as well as a couple of snacks and drinks. All foods are shelf-stable, which means they do not need to be refrigerated. Examples of items are cereal, granola bars, macaroni and cheese, spaghettios, dried fruit and crackers. The food is collected and distributed by Merciful HELP and Open Doors.
If you would like your child(ren) to participate in the Back Sacks program, please fill out this GOOGLE FORM.
If you have any questions please contact Ashley Santel at santela@wws.k12.in.us
Thank you,
Ashley Santel
