Dear Warrior Families and Students,

It has been a busy week full of students taking the PSAT, learning about ecosystems, and learning to diagnose technology issues among other incredible opportunities at MHS. I love that there is always something exciting happening for our students.

We have seen a few situations in which students have driven unsafely in the parking lot (and in the community) recently. These situations can result in dangerous accidents, tickets, and a loss of parking privileges. Please have a conversation with your student driver about safe driving on the way to school and in the parking lot. We want all of our students to make safe and responsible decisions.

This Article (carryover from last week) gives some practical approaches to helping students value improvement (which will eventually lead to success).

Have a great weekend!

Junior Planning Meetings

Our school counselors have started meeting individually with each junior to discuss and support each student's future post-secondary plan, to help ensure students understand their progress toward high school graduation credits, and to help answer questions regarding their senior course planning.

After your student's meeting, you will receive an email with notes. These meetings will take place over the next two weeks.

Planning for Life After High School: Post-Secondary Pathways & Financial Aid/FAFSA

On Wednesday, November 18th, Muskego High School will be hosting a Planning for Life After High School: Post-Secondary Pathways & Financial Aid/FAFSA, an evening designed to help current juniors, seniors, and their guardians confidently prepare for life after high school.

The event will begin promptly at 6:00 pm in the MHS Performing Arts Center. This is an excellent opportunity to gain insight and knowledge of different post-secondary options from four-year public and private universities, technical colleges, and military options. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn more about the financial aid process and how to successfully submit your FAFSA information.

Guest speakers representing the various post-secondary options will have tables set up in the PAC lobby before and after the presentation, providing an opportunity for students and guardians to connect with representatives individually, ask questions, and explore options that may be a good fit for their future. The event will end at 8:00 pm.

SRO Mrotek's Safety Corner

Safety Tips When in Parking Lots:

  • Stay vigilant. Pay attention to your surroundings, especially in parking lots and at arrival and dismissal times.
  • Walk around your vehicle before you get in. A quick look takes just a few seconds.
  • Unbuckle as soon as you arrive, so you're ready to get out.
  • Don't linger when you get out of your car. Head straight to where you're going.
  • Walk with purpose, and keep your phone down and your head up.
  • Buddy up whenever you can. There's safety in numbers.
  • If you see something, say something. Tell a staff member or call me.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels off, it probably is.
  • Never get into a stranger's vehicle, no matter what they tell you.

Never hesitate to call **911** in an emergency. For non-emergencies, you can reach Muskego Police Dispatch directly at **262-679-4130**.

Look out for yourselves and each other.
