The Manning Minute

A Message from our Principal
Dear Manning Families,
This week we will host our annual Lucky Mustangs Casino Night at Applewood Golf Course. We’re looking forward to a fantastic evening this Friday, November 6, as we come together to connect with fellow community members and raise funds to support our school. We can’t wait to see you there!
Manning's NJHS is very excited to host a food drive for BGOLDN, which is an organization that supports the Golden area for students and families who need access to sufficient, nutritious food. According to Hunger Free Colorado, an estimated 44% of Colorado households with children lack reliable access to nutritious food. In Jefferson County, 1 in 8 families experience food insecurity.
With this in mind, NJHS is hosting a food drive from November 3-11th. We are asking each grade level to bring specific items, so they have a balance of nutritious food available. Check out the article below about what we are asking for. We appreciate any donations possible.
We’re also excited to welcome prospective families to our Information Night for the 2027/2028 school year on Thursday, November 12, beginning at 5:30 p.m. If you know of families looking for a great middle school for next year, please encourage them to attend. More details and tour sign-ups are available on our website. Please note that the first-round choice enrollment window opens on December 1.
As we head into the winter season at Manning, please check out our family calendar to keep up with all the events happening.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support of Manning. I am grateful to have you part of our community.
In partnership,
Matt

At Manning, Kindness Matters!
The Manning NJHS chapter continues its tradition of recognizing that kindness, in any form, is a necessary path to walk. A “Kindness Tree” that was beautifully constructed by 8th grader Zeta Gesick is filled with colorful leaves reminding us about what it means to be kind.
During Mustang Time a few weeks ago, the 6th grade students wrote about what Kindness SOUNDS like. They wrote about kind words being said to them or laughter that cheered them up.
The 7th graders contributed to what it LOOKS like. They wrote about the importance of eye contact and accepting a helping hand when they needed it.
The 8th graders tackled what it FEELS like. They expressed things like feeling safe with friends who really know them and the feeling of satisfaction when they have helped others.
The responses to these prompts are incredible and truly inspiring, reminding us that Kindness truly matters at Manning.
